I am with you. They are going to do it early.

Mu bet would also be 5-22/23 so it would not ruin the pop with any new google features that would not be announced until G-IO, but since you have already taken that weekend I am going to go with 5-15/16 the weekend after the launch party. I doubt it will happen but I can always dream. I think it will be before June though.

I am saying June 13th or even June 20th. "Summer" starts June 21st.
That's my reasoning. - 05-04-2010, 02:22 PM #5
LOL, if that were really the case, I'd hire a cab to go to the closest Best Buy I can find in Cali (have to go there for a seminar for the weekend) and buy it there before flying back to FL on Sunday

I highly doubt that will happen though, just asking a few Best Buy Employees (I know, I know!), and they predicted the pre order date to be late May or early June. - 05-04-2010, 02:37 PM #6
Date: At such a time that somehow Apple's new iPhone ruins the launch just like with the Pre.
Based on past Sprint "big" releases, I'd say I'm gonna be pretty accurate here. - 05-04-2010, 02:54 PM #7
I hope the weekend of May 23, i have a raod trip from the East Coast to the West coast the 2nd week of June so I would love to test out the 4g experience (i start in Baltimore).

Well Sprint is already releasing the Blackberry Bold 9650 on May 23rd so my guess is the EVO will be released the same time. Sprint has released multiple new phones on the same day in the past. I also believe that the will announce the release date on May 12th at the Sprint HTC EVO Movie event.

June 6!!!!!!!!!
- 05-04-2010, 04:37 PM #11
I say July 18th... cause Sprint wants to see us grovel for another couple months!!!

I'm gonna make a wild prediction of a soft launch on May 12th immediately following their press event. I'm only guessing this because we know at least one store has received a display model.

I'm gonna say June 6 general release, with June 5 release for Premier customers.

I am going with May 29th. Just in time for us Pre converts 1yr upgrade.

Knowing Sprints way of doing things and past history i think the EVO will be launched on 06/23/20. Or shortly after ATT verizon and t-mobile set up a strong and reliable WIMAX network for themselves. thats my two cents.

Ok now because I am waiting to buy it, it probably won't be relased till September 5th, and here is my reasoning.. I wanted the 9650 Tour 2, there was talk that it would be released 12/21 or there abouts. Here we are and the release date is now 5/23/10. 5 months later.. Take tomorrows date and add 5 months to it and it comes out to October.. Ok Skip that.. Start over.. Hmmmm.. Who knows when its coming out Sprint is enjoying me dying here for a new phone! I think Dan Hesse has it in for me because of the nasty email I send him regularly because of my 8350i Nextel phone!

For now I'd just like an announced date, so i have something solid to look forward to.

Sprint does Saturday launches if I remember right. For that reason, I think the Evo is going to show up on the 22nd of May. Who knows, it also might be sporting Froyo!

I spoke with someone claiming to be a sprint retention rep who told me sprint would release the evo until june 13th. He also told me sprint won't announce the price until the day before. My guess is sprint just might give the phone for free with a 2 year contract, as we saw in the blurred picture of the phone at a corporate store, to attract a very large number of customers. I believe sprint has improved alot over the years and just have a bad name, they want people to give sprint another chance. Or perhaps they will give the phone for free and require you to add 4g and mobile hotspot for additional charges per month to make up for the cost.

Is it a norm for phone companies to pass a definite date without the FCC approval first? I'm just wondering if the NY party on the 12th or the IO near the 20th arrives and there's still no approval how this end of May prediction will be a possibility.

I've wondered about that. I thought maybe it snuck through the FCC and was missed.

It probably was. There were some FCC filings that noone could totally make out and inferred they must be either Supersonic/Incredible or something similar.
If mid June is the intended release date i'd say there is no way it hasnt or atleast isnt incredibly (no pun intended) close to being FCC approved.
