Default Anyone heard any news on Froyo + EVO 4G?

This sounds like a match made in heaven. Especially with Froyo's built-in Wifi Hotspot App.

I'm sure it will be easily attainable if you know what you're doing. Thinking of that I'm going to open up a ROMs/Hack sub forum. Thanks.

don't mention it Jeremy ;-) although I have no idea what a "ROM" is I just upgraded to a Hero from a Curve a few weeks ago so I'm still in awe just over the regular stuff. Pre-ordered my EVO today.

rumor has that it will be a little bit later than N1 or Droid. But it will be awesome with 2.2, more curious how flash 10.1 works on huge screen there.

Hopefully we'll (EVO owners) will get the update in a timely fashion & not have wait months after 2.2 has been released to other non-sense devices.

WOW, I really can't believe how short all the memories are around here. My wife, who won't root her Hero, is STILL waiting to get updated out of 1.5 HELL. Sprint is AWFUL with the updating thing, if you ask me. Just awful!!!

Now am I hopeful that Sprint and HTC have learned a little since then and will get the 2.2 update to their brand new phones in a timely manner(read: before the contract is up) ? Yes, I am a optimistic guy, but I am not holding my breathe at all.

    *FINGERS CROSSED for 2.2*

It's not that I am saying Froyo needs to come out a week after it's released from Google, but I sure hope it comes out quicker than with the Hero is all. That is a total cluster.

I personally think it will take a long time for 2.2 to come to the EVO. I believe the reason is that Sprint will need to figure out a way to block the tethering capabilities that come with 2.2

This being Sprint's (and HTC's for that matter) new flagship device I'd say they would get it as quickly as possible.

I've heard that the EVO is supposed to be second in line for the Froyo update after the Nexus One. This isn't the original link I saw, but another place where it was mentioned:

I doubt that we will get it fast. It has to go through Sprint and HTC, so that just adds time to it. I will try it out when the Evo is rooted.

But who's to say that it isn't already being modified by Sprint and/or HTC? It only makes sense that it would be released on the EVO second to the Nexus 1.

You have to have 2.2 Sense UI to be able to turn it off and get plain 2.2, so you're right back where you started.

I'm with the guys who say it'll be coming soon. I don't see see it not coming soon.
This is the flagship phone of all Android. Of course Google will release it to their phone 1st but Sprint and Google will certainly want the latest on this phone ASAP.
I would assume HTC would as well. Considering this is coming out so soon after I/O I wouldn't be surprised to have an update waiting after activation just like with the Pre.
    Evo4G. Now with more Internet.

Well this week Google IO Convenience where they are supposed to be releasing 2.2. I suspect but have NO PROF that the week Nexis 1 will get the update and the update for EVO is ready to go and we will have it on the day of launch.

Like I said no evidence but it makes since to me. We will find out if I am right or wrong this week.
