Exclamation RadioSHacks Deal On the Evo and Info

    Hey everyone,

RadioShack will begin their pre-orders of the HTC Evo on Friday, May 14th.

The store will require a $50 non-refundable deposit, which is put on a giftcard. So if you, for some awkward 3rd-worldly reason, decide to change your mind about the purchase after ordering, you can use the giftcard for other RadioShack products.

Also, if one pre-orders the Evo from RadioShack, you will receive $20 towards any accessories for the phone, which I think is a great deal.

The Evo will be available to new customers, 2-year upgrade customers and 1-year upgrade PREMIER customers for $199.99. No mail-in rebate.

This information is already known, but I will post it anyway:

The HTC Evo will be activated only through Everything Data Plans starting at $69.99 or above, plus $10. These $10 are DEVICE SPECIFIC and must be paid for having an HTC Evo. If there is only one Evo on a family account, the entire account must switch to a Family Share Everything Data plan which covers all lines, and starts at $129.99 (plus the $10 for each Evo)

The mobile hotspot feature can be activated on site and will be an extra $29.99 per month per Evo.

I don't know yet whether or not RadioShack will carry the respective accessories, such as the Dock, HDMI cable, etc. But they, as always, should have cases, car chargers, and screen protectors.

The Shack has a pretty good deal with that $20.00 toward accessories. But will they have them ready on June 4th? I'll probably check this Friday Afternoon what to do, The Shack or Best Buy, they are really close to each other in my area, so I don't have to worry about going out of my way for the other.

I will be pre-ordering from the Shack today. Any body have experience dealing with insurance or defective device exchanges with the Shack?

Yes The Shack will have them ready on the 4th.

Kinster, I would get the Sprint insurance if I were you. The process at RadioShack takes longer, which means more time without a phone.

Why would anyone want to deal with mail in rebates when you can avoid all that and just go to RadioShack...?

With the $10/month fee I'm no longer buying an Evo. But I was planning on going to either BestBuy or Radioshack - whichever had the best deal.

Damn dude, sorry to hear that you're not getting one! I just look at those extra 10 dollars like the special iPhone plan people have to pay for. You wanna play, you gotta pay, that's how the world works. I know I am the wrong person to be singing this song since my company pays for my phone, but still, Sprint knows they have something good here and they are in business to make money, so you can't blame them for asking a bit more money for the heavy data usage they are about to incur and have to support. That's what AT&T has to deal with with the iPhone which is why there is a iPhone plan.

back on topic, the only thing I worry about getting the evo fom the shack is that the one in my area can't transfer contacts, Best Buy can, which is why I will probably get it there.

lol seriously? You can't spare an extra 10 bucks a month? I know the economy is shot to hell but damn it's $10. I guess you just don't like the finer things in life.. Just a extra evo for somebody else.

Maybe he's paying off his Bentley. You don't know his situation and maybe he has the money, but doesn't feel it's worth an extra $10 a month. I have a Nexus One, iPhone 3Gs, Pre and crap load of BB devices, but the extra $10 does make me take a double look myself. I have the $$$, but I won't benefit from the 4G for a long time and my service is sub-par in my home with 2-3 bars the most.

I am over all the crying over $10. I have said it several times its about 33 cents a data for a premium phone, the iphone plan is about $1 a day either way if $10 is ouside your means you should not be paying $200 for a phone in the first place, go get a supersized big mac meal so instead of data for $10 a month you can load up on calories good job.

Preordered at best buy... sory for the rant its just old already after 2 days if thats the only flaw you can find as of now is $10 god save us

Pre-ordered at RS today, was the first at that particular store and the sales rep. seem pretty excited that she got to process the first one. I asked if she thought they would have plenty and her response is that with HTC the HD2 and the Incredible all are on back ordere at that store and so yea probably the EVO will have limited stock. I live in Charleston, SC where there is no 4G, and in spite of this they are expecting it to be pretty limited. So good thing for me is I am guaranteed my EVO at 9:30 on June 4

Hate MIR as always, god knows when it will be handled, even worse, missed some "important" paper or whatsoever. besides, need case or screen protect later, $20 is not bad for saving.

I also ordered at RS this am. First one for the manager and I 'helped' him along with the particulars. He was pretty happy that I was well informed and give him some info. He was pretty excited that Sprint did not exclude them from this phone like they did with the Pre. He stated that it will be there on the release date, I am hoping the rumors are true that they may be early at RS. He did not confirm that rumor.

I was thinking the same but then I found out that Sprint has a 10% discount if you are a member of a credit union, which I am. Since I have the $129 family plan, that means at least $12.99 off (I'm not sure if the discount also applies to the insurance), so it's all good. Going to the shack today to pre-order.

Personally, I dont think it's not good for customers who live in the area w/o 4G but have to pay that $10 per month, it should be optional for them. But, on the contrary, if not, why bother another $10 considering you have to pay $70 there. Besides, try staying with other "BIG" 3g carrier, i bet you cant even enjoy 4g on that price.

I was going to get mine at the sprint store but the $20 accessory credit is pretty sweet so I'm goin to the shack later today hopefully.

Sup peeps, this my first post here. I'm a soon to be new ship jumper from the dying BB ship. My question is if I have my $150 upgrade with Sprint due July 1st but I can use it two weeks early, will Radio shack honor that? Would I be able to pre-order this phone and have it charged to my account? I rather go the BestBuy/Shack route instead of the Sprint store for the simple fact that I hate waiting for rebates like I'm gone bail ship after I've been wit u guys for 10yrs

Just pre-ordered, and got a price of 189.99. And got the $20 accessory deal too.

Every time you buy something at Radio Shack, there's a link for an online customer satisfaction survey on your receipt; take the survey and get $10 off a purchase of $40 or more within the next 30 days. When I paid the pre-order deposit, the receipt had the link, just like any other transaction. Confirmed with the sales person that the coupon could be used when I pick up the phone in 21 days.

Just spent 3 minutes filling out the survey and printing the coupon, so my net price is $189.99. Radio Shack just paid my first month's "Premium Data" tax.

I didn't get anything for the $20 accessories either, but didn't remember about that until after I left...now wondering if I need to go back for it.

As for when they'd have them in stock, the receipt specifically states that it will be available on the 4th and that it would only be held for you until the 5th, so I assume that means they get it on the 4th.

I'm going to pass by tomorrow and ask if they had to give me anything. And yea they hold the phone for 48hrs for us. once 48hrs pass, they are able to sell it as regular inventory product. I know I will be there as soon as the store opens to have as much fun as i can with it.
