Default Evo Power Button not working! Help!

So I hit the power button... And nothing happens. To turn my phone screen on I need to plug it in, and then to turn it off I need to let it time out. What is going on? Any suggestions of how to fix this issue?! I need to use my phone! But I can't because of this issue!

Are you rooted? If not, do a factory reset. If that doesn't help take it to the sprint store.

Temp work around, install No Lock by BoD. It allows you to wake the phone using the volume buttons.

Yeah I had the same problem. I solved it by:

    - removing the cover that covers the mobo
    - gently pushing the power button back (away from screen)
    - I then cut up the cardboard from a gum package (like stride or trident) folded in half and put it between the power button and the front housing
    - screwed the screws back in (just snug) and removed the cardboard.

There should be little space between the power button and the front housing. My problem was obviously that the button wasn't seated right. If this doesn't work then its probably a mobo problem. Just google how to take apart an evo and youll find hundreds of tutorials.

    Hope this helps someone.

Take it back to Sprint, they replaced mine when my power button stopped working. I was told by Sprint this is a common mfg defect on this phone.
