That is a pretty neat app. I will give that a try.

HOw fast does it actually work when compared to regular text input? Is there any possible way you can add a video of you using it? I would like to see it in action from a regular user, instead of some expert.

Oh good. I can't be without swype ever again. Does anyone know if I would be able to install the swype I have with mybackup pro? I have had to exchange the G1 a few times and for some strange reason I was not able to download the beta onto the new phone but luckily I backed it up and that's how I install it on my exchanged G1.

Lip: They said you can only use the beta on 2 devices. I'm assuming since you installed via a back-up you should be good. Honestly though I don't know the answer to that.

Isn't Swype already going to be on this phone that's what I heard. The lady from HTC made it sound like when you had your main keyboard up there would be options to change it and that one would be swype. If you go to you tube and search for it you'll find a video I did. It looked neat! So you don't swype on the keyboard that comes with the phone it's a different keyboard. I want to try the speech to text too. And it;'s free and doesn't cost right? Or is the beta free and there is a full version that cost? I got confused by that on another post. Thanks,

According to a friend that works for Sprint and has had his grubby little hands all over the EVO Swype is not pre-installed.

Swype is one app I never liked. I tried it on my old Moto Droid and gave it a chance, but yeah - no go. I found normal texting much more enjoyable.

Hopefully I can manage to get it installed on my EVO when I get it. I am one of those who love Swype. I don't text a lot and I've never been a very proficient at it, but Swype really helps me be faster and more accurate. The other day, all of the sudden, Swype told me my trial had expired and I was really bummed. Thankfully, I fixed it, but I was really bummed at the prospect of no longer being able to use it.
I really hate that they don't have plans to release it to the general public. I would gladly pay for it if I could. - 05-17-2010, 01:49 PM #19
I like swype howver I wish there was an easy way to toggle from the message screen between that and the standard keyboard at the time of typing the message. Having to go in a toggle threw settings sucks.

To each their own. I didn't like the leaked Swype before they opened the beta. It took up way too much memory, I think I got it up to 13mb.
Once they opened the beta I decided to give it another shot and well, now I can't imagine having to go back to the regular touch keyboard.
