What will you upgrade to?
What will all you Evo users upgrade to?
I would like to think about upgrading some time soon....but not sure to what.
I have no interest in 3D. I think I might be bored with an iphone after having the Evo. Thinking about the Samsung Galaxy 2 but heard Samsung isn't great with updates...so...I don't know.
I'd love to hear what others are doing!

Re: What will you upgrade to?
My opinions!:
Evo 3D is nice, and the 3D feature is just a gimmick anyway.
I don't really care much for Samsung's UI. Looks too iPhoney (haha).
Samsung isn't the only player that's bad on updates. There are still some HTC phones barely getting GB after all. I can't remember what ones though... the not-so-popular ones I'm sure.
I tried playing with an iPhone and I couldn't stand it. I need my widgets!
As for upgrading, I don't know yet. At first I really wanted the Evo 3D, but I couldn't let my Evo go. Plus, my upgrade isn't until May of 2012, so I'm hoping Sprint gets some better phones by then. Really the only good ones it has are the SGSII and the Evo 3D at the moment. Personally, I'd wait until Q1 next year. Lots of new phones carrying new tech will be out. - 11-16-2011, 10:18 PM #3
Re: What will you upgrade to?
Already upgraded. I got my iPhone 4S, gave my Evo to my wife to replace her broken Evo. The whole house is happy.

I would like to upgrade to the galaxy nexus. Just waiting for confirmation from sprint.

Re: What will you upgrade to?
Agree with eldub1 I do. This phone still has more activity than many Android phones. Just look how it's still always on the top of the right-side home screen list on AC. I'm glad it's so popular within the community. I'm like you, I feel I should be upgrading by now, but I just haven't found a reason or a phone worthy of an upgrade. Maybe ICS will change that... or NFC... I just don't want to waste an upgrade on 'a faster processor and more memory' mobile device.

Re: What will you upgrade to?
I'd love to grab the Galaxy Nexus, otherwise I'll wait to see what HTC and Sprint launch in the EVO line in the Spring. Hopefully they'll lose the 3D, not a fan of it. I still love my EVO 4G, hoping that CM brings it some ICS but other then that I'm very happy.
Proud owner of a rooted HTC EVO 4G - CM7.1 (and hopefully CM9 nightlys soon) and a stock (for now) Toshiba Thrive 16GB. - 11-17-2011, 12:58 PM #8
Re: What will you upgrade to?
i have no idea of what i'd like. i've had my evo for about a year now, and still LOVE it. i'm sure there are other devices with multiple processors, more memory, etc... but i'm not itching for a new platform at the moment.
i figure that if i get bored with it, i could flash a new rom and have a new (to me) phone. - 11-17-2011, 01:40 PM #9
Re: What will you upgrade to?
That's kind of where I'm at. I've had my Evo for almost a year now, and I just love it. I'm thinking of rooting it soon, it sounds silly, but I wanted to wait until the warranty was up. I'm really excited to try out the roms that I've seen. I haven't really seen anything that I want to upgrade to either. I won't be eligible for about another year anyways. I'm sure there will be something out by then that'll take my interest.

Galaxy nexus, why would you get anything else? Lol

Re: What will you upgrade to?
I'm waiting til June - July of next year to upgrade. I want to track what Sprint is going to do with their network upgrades 1st and see what LTE phones come to the NOW network.

Re: What will you upgrade to?
I'd love to get my hands on a U.S. version of the Galaxy Note, IF they ever come out with one.

A GN, and it doesn't need to be on Sprint. If I did, I'd be miserable till next summer.
I'm at the point where the UI in ICS is good enough that I don't need vendor skins. And sick of the waiting game, will my phone get updated?, etc..

.
+1 for those of you who are not rooted and running a custom rom and kernel?
You don't know what you are missing. I understand you are concerned about
Voiding your warranty? But once you have a taste of what it really means
To "own a evo with no restrictions" you will not go back to a stock evo by choice. - 11-28-2011, 02:32 PM #15
Yet to get confirmation on any ROM including CM7 that has stock reliability 4G and GPS. That's what's stopped me.

Re: What will you upgrade to?
I'm noticing a popular consensus in this thread that the Evo 4G is STILL a excellent phone with no need to rush out and upgrade. I'm also in that camp. My Evo runs like a well-oiled machine since rooting and tweaking the thing and devs still continue to crank out the new roms. We even have ICS now (although I haven't flashed that one yet). Sure there are better screens and faster processors but just when I start to get bored I flash a new rom and feel like I just got home from the Sprint store with a new device.

Re: What will you upgrade to?
I'm due 1 Jan, and I don't see anything promising. Don't really wanna pull the trigger on a Sammy Epic 4G Touch.

Re: What will you upgrade to?
Ideally I would like to upgrade to the GN, but who knows if, or when, it will come to Sprint? I am due for an upgrade in February, but I am going to wait until LTE phones start rolling out, however I am a bit worried about Lightsquared's GPS interference issues.
My EVO works perfectly fine with CM7. I have never run across an app that I can't run because my my old, "slow" processor. It's just that I have gadget lust and am always looking at the next best thing.
If not the Galaxy Nexus I really like the HTC Ville. While HTC's designs are tired I think their build quality is good, and they feel good in the hand. Also, I like their screens. Next time you hold a GN tilt it slightly off center and it totally looks blue. - 12-20-2011, 04:19 PM #23
Re: What will you upgrade to?
Nothing that sprint has now. I'm not feeling any of their phones. Pay $400 for a non ice cream sandwich, non LTE, probably be considered "old in 3 months" device? Not me. Verizon is killing sprint device wise at the moment. They got the bionic, the razr and galaxy nexus. What do we got? A 2 month old (at least) Samsung galaxy s 2 touch 4g aka the dumbest name for a android phone ever and a freaking iphone. Nothing listed for the holidays and I got to pay a $300 bill next month. Sprint can blow me, that's how I feel at the moment. I'm gonna pay my bill, keep my EVO and wait to be impressed again. When sprint gets a HTC phone running at least sense 3.5 then I'm upgrading. I am NOT AT ALL fascinated by Ice cream sandwich. It looks like it was designed by a 12 yr old girl. I'm sticking with HTC sense. 3.5 is so sexy. but every carrier has a sense 3.5 device but ours. I can't even use sense 3.5 roms b/c 4G won't work until sprint gets a 3.5 HTC device (currently running Shooter3D). But that's just my 2 cents

Same here, no upgrade until the first part of next year. Though I see no reason that I should get rid of my OG EVO, especially since there is still has a huge dev community surrounding it. Heck, there's already 2 ICS ROMs for the EVO. Only the Nexus S saw ICS before we did and Google just pulled the update because of some bad bugs while our devs are steadily pumping update after update for theirs. Until Sprint gets another Nexus I'll keep my beloved EVO.
Now I'm going to raise a  to my EVO as I put the worlds first touch screen recovery on such and "old" device...ha!
