Default What version of Android does the EVO 4G come with?

My parents are looking to getting the free offer for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G, and they want to know which version of Android it ships with and is capable of running WITHOUT rooting.

I've been searching everywhere but can't seem to find the info. It's only listed as 2.3 and not 2.3.x so I have no idea which it's running. So, those of you that have an EVO 4G, can you help? thx.

Yea 2.3 is right. That's Gingerbread.

I'm almost positive the EVO 4G ships with 2.3.3. To know exactly, do this: Menu>Settings>About Phone>Software information.

I don't actually have the phone, and the store doesn't have EVOs out on display anymore so I can't check. Are either one of you using an EVO? If so which version of Android are you running?

It will always say x.x and not x.x.x when at a store cause the last .x is just a patch update to the flavor of android.
