    Default SD Card Woes

I am having massive problems with my EVO. Well not massive, but they are pissing me off. Pictures keep corrupting or something liek that. I cant view pictures ont he SD card, they give me some grey icon wiht an exclamation mark. This is also causing Keyrings to fail to load keyring PNG files. I also had an error once that said the SD card was full when I tried to use the camera, but it has 7.5GB free.

Please help!!! This problem makes me sad.

no, but seriously... sounds like your SD card is corrupted. Try formatting it.

Yes it is the card that came with the evo. I'll format it, I did get a notice that it was corrupted once earlier.

Wow. I'm having the same weird issue as well. Sometimes my songs vids and pics won't show up. I get weird errors. It's the only issue I've had so far with my evo

Yea the card is seated fine. I reformatted and it seems to be working, though the Keyrings app still wont display bar codes . I was looking forward to using that app so as to stop carrying all my membership cards.

can you format the card within android or do you have to take the card out?

Within android settings, I unmounted the card, and formatted it. I wanted to ensure it was formatted in the proper way.

Do you have another card you can try, perhaps a Class 4 or above? Just trying to help isolate issue....

I had the same issues with the card it came with. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. (By didn't - the camera would complain it was full, I couldn't access files stored on it, etc.) I had a class 6 card I was swapping out anyway so I didn't bother to troubleshoot. So far so good on the better card.

Please keep us posted! I plan on using the Class 6 card I already have. I've also been extremely concerned about the Evo's microSD locking mechanism since the Engadget review....

I had same trouble. Tried removing/re-inserting SD card several times. Still eventually would have trouble, pictures taken became unavailable, new pictures could not be taken. Downloaded podcasts would become unavailable, or they would corrupt. Rebooting phone usually would fix the problem.

I tried reformatting the SD card several times on Android, wouldn't fix the problem, still would eventually corrupt.

Also tried using "SD consortium" official SD formatter "SdFormatter v2.9.0.5" (or v2.0.9.5 believe it's the former). That improved things somewhat, but still experienced unmounted card a couple of times.

I replaced the existing card with my own and haven't had any issues since.

Man I hope that is not a hardware issue. If it is only a bad run on the SD cards we can replace those. If it is within the Evo, that could be bad, really bad...

Lets stay positive and keep us informed guys/gals....

I also had a couple of corrupt pictures, and when I ran SD Speed Test, it said the write speed was only 1MB/s and read was like 2 or something. It said "Class Unknown".

But I swapped out the card with the one in my Hero and ran the SD Speed Test app again and it was rated at write: 8MB/s and read: 13MB/s !!! It still showed "Class Unknown" but the speeds were great!

I then ran the speed test on my Hero with the Evo's old card and it rated it as Class 2. Each time you run the test you get slightly different results.

The weirdest part...the original 8GB card in the Evo was a SanDisk, whereas the 8GB card in the Hero didn't even have a brand name on it but got much better numbers.

So needless to say, the Evo gets the better card now :-) Sorry Hero!

Sadly the ROM is finalized, so nothing will be different on the EVO's that we will be buying. Hopefully they will get an OTA update ASAP.

Well hopefully this is just a bad batch of MicroSD cards and is limited to the devices Google gave away. Lets hope the launch devices have a different batch of cards and they work fine.

I am praying for an OTA update that gives me a new SD card, and removes HTC Sense. Or lets me block apps from running before I have ever activated them. Why on God's green earth does Slacker Radio load itself for no apparent reason. Photobucket does that as well. I love the multi-tasking but I think some of these apps need to be lobotomized

Yea I need to get a new SD card ASAP. I just need to determine a way to convert my music and maintain my cover art. dbPoweramp is failing at that. Anyone know a way to convert it without damaging my current collection. I have spent many days tending my collection to get it the way I like it, but a lot of the music is 320kbps, which is silly for a mobile device.
