    Default Car stereo controls

Does anyone know a good car stereo that can control the media being played through my phone like with a iphone? Scrolling through track list and selecting music with the stereo is really what I am looking for. I am new to android so i am not sure if anything like that is out there. thank you in advance

I had an aftermarket Pioneer stereo that could play music on your phone via bluetooth. Worked great and no wires.

I have to say it now, you cannot beat just getting an iPhone for music. I am not an Apple fan but do like the iPod and iPod Touch that I have. The main reason is that dock connector, it just connects to so many things. Android needs some type of universal connector across devices, that would really help get 3rd party docs etc.. yes I know there are tons of different devices etc.. ii

I have *this radio and it is GREAT as it allows voice control of my music. Of course I have the software modded so it is much better than out of the box. ii
It basically uses the same software as the Ford Sync system. I have my iPod connected to it leaving my phone free for all the really important stuff.. ii

It's called Bluetooth. With A2DP and AVRCP, it's the universal connection for everyone!

That is true but I am talking the physical connector for video/audio/control that's all. ii
I don't disagree that you can do it that way. I thought he wanted a radio recommendation. Use the iPod for music and the Evo for all the real work ii

Since we are here I know you can do a lot with voice on Android but can you control the music from an Android device by voice? Can I have a bluetooth headset on and just tell it to play a certain artist/album etc... all by voice?

wireless is nice but in my car the evo would be kinda hard to reach. being able to change the track or select artist through the in dash stereo would be great. if you can do that through a bluetooth stereo that would be great. but wasnt sure if you could.

A2DP is just for streaming sound. AVRCP is a "remote control" profile. Many car head units use AVRCP to control a BT device through inputs on the head unit (or steering wheel, etc). It works beautifully with my Clarion CX609 and Palm Pre. I am sure it will work with the Evo 4G too (but ask me on Friday if you really want to know).

My car supports A2DP and AVRCP and I've been using it flawlessly with my Touch Pro 2. According to the N1 with 2.1 supports these Bluetooth protocols so I'd be shocked if the EVO, also running 2.1, doesn't.

My pioneer changed tracks, pause, etc via bluetooth with my treo 755p. I used it daily for over a year before I sold the car.

    Hey Pinko,

You offered, so I'm asking...you said you are getting the HTC EVO and have a Clarion CX609 deck. I also have the same deck and wanted to ask you...

    1) Is the EVO pairing successfully via bluetooth to the Clarion CX609?
    2) Does the phonebook transfer?
    3) Have you had any issues?

    Thanks

My Mazda3 works with the EVO for playing, as well as play/pause, FWD and RWD.

    Default dual deck

I just picked up a dual deck from Walmart for $140.00 to replace a $400.00 kenwood without bluetooth. works flawlessly.. not as refined in build quality, but works the balls for the money.. I drive around streaming Pandora, switching songs with the remote. call answering works very well.. I'm working on a custom dock for the evo now.
