Default Is anyone switching to an iphone??

I never thought I would be considering this...but I am.
I am def ready to move on from my Evo.
My husband has an iphone 4S for work and both my kids have ipod touches.
They all love their devices and my kids (they are young) want me to be able to facetime with them
Just wondering if anyone else is considering or has made this switch.

Nope, not tempted. Going to wait to see what comes out when Sprint changes to LTE this year.

Why? Tell your family to use Skype instead of Facetime. Facetime only works if both parties are on WiFi and on iOS. You can use Skype over 3G/4G and from iPhone to Android to Mac to PC.

Can't believe anyone would consider switching for Facetime when it's the most limited video calling option around IMO. Yay, if I have an iPhone and you have an iPhone and we both happen to be in Wi-Fi at the moment, we can actually call each other. How convenient </sarcasm>

The wife and I both dumped our evo's for the 4s. We couldn't be happier and will never look back.

Thought about it, but decided to stick with my EVO for now. Most of the things that kept me from moving to iOS (like physical dependence on iTunes) are mostly fixed, but I prefer Android's ecosystem.

    I have thought about it
The better camera, the fact that it just works.
Plus my company has swithced to i-pads and upper management has all switched to i-phones..

What is amazing.. is just how many companies have switched from blackberry to i-phones.

If i do switch..It will be to AT&T. The I-Phone 4s just flies on that network. Co workers are pulling in 6 MB on the speedrest app.

I don't know what it is but sooo many of my friends have switched from Android to iOS. My best friend who was a DIE HARD Android guy with an Evo....went out today and picked up a 4S on Sprint....just out of the blue. Got rid of his Evo 3D just like that. Why is everyone (in my world anyway) jumping ship? Are the Android phones becoming the new crappy flip phones that everyone used to have and finally ditched?

Well from what my coworkers who have switched say. It just works with out having to root or tweak.
Plus walk down the isle at target. I-phone has a dedicated isle of stuff just for it. So I guess they mean support for the product.

I really have not played with one long enough to see if I could make the switch to a smaller screen.

I switched to Android and can never go back to that tiny screen. I still have a jailbroken ipod touch and have found I can do more with the stock android. I love my widgets. My buddy sold his OG EVO, got a 4s and now regrets it.

I switched from the Evo 4g to an iPhone 4s and love the iPhone. The main thing I love is the long battery life. I can go over two days with heavy use before having to charge the phone. I pretty much had to charge my Evo every day. It was never rooted, but I did have to tweak the Evo so that I could get better battery. My Evo was also sluggish, where the iPhone is super fast. I like having all my music on my iPhone and I had a ton of digital copies of movies that I was finally able to put on the iPhone. The smaller screen was the only thing that I didn't like, but I got use to it and now I don't think about it. I rarely used the 4g on my Evo because in San Antonio, it's hit or miss and it would drain the battery. The iPhone 3g speed is a lot faster than the Evo's. I really loved my Evo, but this iPhone blows it away.

I have both, and use my iPhone more than my android device. Highly recommend it on the fact your family can stream line it's communication hardware. Most androids can video talk as well, and several apps exist in both markets to do this across the platforms. That said, get what you WANT! Not what I tell you ha ha.

I agree, better battery life would be a plus. Now if the iphone were more customizable then I would give it another look. The fact that every iphone I've seen looks exactly alike save for the wallpaper and case makes me cringe. I just need that customization so that it feels like I have a new device every couple months or so. Now my girlfriend who is in grad school doesn't have time for all that and I can tell she is itching to switch as soon as her two-year contract is up. I never had good results with 4G either like niembre mentioned.

I don't have an iPhone but have an iPad2 (company bought me one). It's ok, but the OS is just too limited. Can't change the keyboard, can't change the default browser, no OOTB navigation, can't have different signatures for different email accounts (a deal breaker for myself that has to manage a dozen email accounts all requiring different signatures). And that's just to start. I will NOT complain about the battery life though, but it's noticeably worse after the iOS5 upgrade than it was before (still decent though).

I can see the appeal for your average user who doesn't actually need any kindof functionality besides the basics, but it's just too limited for me to use for my life, and I don't picture getting one unless they can catch up to Android's functionality (and of course the screen needs to be bigger...I can't go back to that).

I am also currently heavily vested in Google products (Gmail, Docs, Picasa, YouTube, etc), and love that integration. If you were heavily invested in Apple's ecosystem (iTunes, AppleTV, Mac) then I'm sure the iPhone integrates better with that.

Basically, it's what works for you. I haven't noticed many people around me jumping ship one way or another. I know one coworker who went Incredible -> iPhone4S and 2 who have gone the other direction (iPhone 4 -> TBolt and iPhone 3 -> Droid 2).

I personally don't care what others have....it's what works for me and I have no vested interest in the "phone wars" beyond that.

The EVO, while a good phone, is going on 2 years old. I'm probably jumping to the Nexus as soon as it's available. Mmmm.....Nexus.

March 1st I am eligible for upgrade and I am getting an 4S (Sprint). Now that doesn't mean I am bailing on my EVO 4G, for me its a matter of putting out a couple of hundred bucks and having the phone manufacturer cease support after about 12-16 months (yes I know thats' how fast the high end smart phone world works ), yes my EVO is rooted and that is why it is not going away yet. With Apple its trade off, device support for years beyond your contract end date, of course as soon as there is a jailbreak for the 4S I will go there. Anyway long winded I know The choice is a personal one and if it works for you go for it !

    P.S.

I will never abandon Android, the culture and brilliant ideas coming from this community are inspiring and shows what a true open source system can achieve. (both good and bad).

Functionality and screen size are what keep me firmly in the Android camp. I could never downgrade to a smaller display than the EVO, and I personally don't like Apple's ecosystem.

I'm puzzled to read all the "I'm switching to iPhone" around here. I have friends with iPhones who are always awestruck at what my wife and I can do with our EVOs and Android tabs. Being a pair of software engineers may give us an edge I suppose, but one friend bailed on his iPhone just after watching me simply Swype a text on my EVO

The only thing so far that gives me a tinge of iPhone envy is battery life and the Siri app...but I've heard that Android has something similar, idk. The iPhone definitely is a nice phone and I do like the smoother scrolling and overall look, but my Evo just works for me. My girlfriends all have iPhones and are always talking about 'new 'features they discovered like its something exclusive, but my Evo does it all and better. AND--their pics look horrible uploaded to FB (they do look better on screen, that's about it). Nope, no switching for me...I'm waiting and hoping for HTC to come up with a newer version of the Evo.

I really have had the thought to switch up but i really dont feel up to it. The apples os is limited vs the android os since android is an open source os. Apple keeps their stuff locked down, yeah u can jailbreak but ur still tied down with a ball & chain either way. Plus its fun learning about android & going thru the root process & trying out all the different dev made roms out there & customizing them. I find that to be 100 times better than apple. Apple makes "quality" products but in the end they still break. My phone has come to me more useful than what an apple iphone would ever serve me. So wait up man dont be in a rush, new android phones r coming with some goods in store with them. Just gotta be patient.

Nice job on callin' the name...I'd expect it to be you CamelGuy. Back to the thread topic. No I won't be switching especially with the new Evo coming out. I get asked about my phone (OG Evo) all the time at work and elsewhere, mostly by iPhone owners. No one is asking about their device, just an observation. My gf told me that she will be switching in a few months when her contract is up but that's her decision. She has Apple everything at home so it makes sense for her. Me...not so much. I find those devices boring, including the iPad.
