Which insurance to go with?
Hey guys,
Just curious if there is any strong advantages to the Best Buy Black Tie coverage over the Sprint TEP? I've got TEP right now and was planning on keeping it, but is the best buy coverage any better/worse? Either way I can't wait to pick up my phone @ 11:00am. This will be my first android coming from the Pre. I'm soooooo exicted!!!!
Thanks

TEP replaces on the spot too. Had it done with a Treo 600 a few times (that was a crappy phone), and in fact, got a free upgrade to a 650 when the 600s were discontinued. Also had my Centro replaced when screen cracked - at the time it was a $30 deductible. Also had my Touch Pro replaced. All but the touch pro were on the spot. The touch pro they had to order, but they let me keep my old phone, and it was only for a day.

Did they change? That'd suck. The Touch Pro was replaced about a year ago. Since then, I gave it to a friend who picked up my plan/phone so I could get an iPhone. Now a year later, I am looking at Sprint and EVO.
ETF for AT&T is $120 for me - that's about an extra month of service worth, so screw it.
EDIT: Damn... Treo 600... I'm dating myself.... - 06-04-2010, 01:26 AM #10

I just had my Pre replaced two days ago, and it was NOT done on the spot. I had to wait until today to pick it up. Now... i'm not sure if this was because my phone was still "technically" doing the majority of what it should be or because this is Sprint's new policy, but I had to wait about 24 hours before I could get the new phone back...
Just saying... - 06-04-2010, 02:04 AM #12

Been with sprint for 11yrs and 9 phones my only carrier and I have never had insurance, even my launch day Pre is still in mint condition and I hope everything goes well with my Evo (crossing fingers).

I like TEP as everytime I walk in with a major problem on my phone, I walk out the sprint store with a new phone. Just have to make sure you go to a corporate store that has a fix area in it. If you go to an affiliate store they have to send it off to get it fixed and I dont think they can replace then for you also.

I took the Sprint TEP for $7 a month.
RS tried HARD to push their insurance for $59.99 up front, but as they say $1 today is worth more than a $1 tomorrow, I'd rather pay it in monthly installments.
Also RS and also BB sends the phone out to 3rd parties, which will take longer than Sprint.
My buddy had a Pre and Sprint store kept giving him new ones each time it had an issue. so I decided Sprint was the way to go. - 06-04-2010, 11:05 AM #21
I am trying to get my friend to get some kind of insurance. He says he doesn't need to. He refuses to get anything. I personally have Sprint's insurance.
