Default Activation of Full Retail Evo require contract agreement?

Okay I was looking to buy an evo full price, possibly through amazon/ebay or wherever availiable. If I did so am I required to activate it right at purchase if through amazon or wherever; and if so, does that mean I have to settle for a contractual agreement with sprint when I do?

Basically I would like to know if I bought the evo out right at full price, but don't actually activate it until later on, would I be required to stay with sprint for a given length, in fear of early termination?

I'm asking because I'm trying to tango carriers and do not want to go to sprint and then be stuck there. Maybe someone who knows can help me out? (Don't want to call sprint up unless I have to)

No. You won't be stuck with Sprint. That's the point of the unsubsidized cost, no restrictive contract.

I may be wrong but I tried to do the same today and was told that on new EVO activations a contract is required. Which is you do the math is better to sign the contract because their cancellation fee is only $200.00.
