Where can I find a key that tells me what all the top status bar icons mean?

Is there any way to remove/hide the "installed app" icons from the status bar without uninstalling the app? If I download and like an app, and want to keep it, do those icons always occupy space on the left side of the status bar? I get one of these icons for each app installed.

Edit: actually the icon I'm referrring to is called the "Downloaded Content" icon. BTW, there is no key in the EVO manual. There is a good one though on page 45/46 in the Hero manual.

pull the bar down and hit clear, it gets rid of everything from the left side but running apps you have that show notifications

I'm having an issue with a icon thats not listed in the manual. The icon looks like an ear with sound coming out or some kind of plug. Its directly left of the GPS icon, does anyone know what it is?

I have the same icon show up today after 4 days. NOT in the manual. Not a headset, battery removal didn't clear it either. Any Android/Sprint experts out there know the likely simple answer?

Found this chart for the Hero on Android Forums.

I believe you guys are referring to the GPS Sat Link Icon. It displays when the GPS is syncing up with satellites.

I just realized the GPS icon is the little dish (with green waves when it's transmitting), and not the little icon that looks like a target and it only comes up when you toggle GPS on or off.

Anyone knows what that icon means? It's not shown on the picture linked above.

Edit: when GPS is disabled, there's a line across the icon.

Most likely, its the hearing aid icon. Go to Settings>Call to turn off.

The target means that location services is turned off and only available to 911. It's on page
20 if the Evo manual. Here is a link

I think some are just being confused by the GPS Sat Icon (dish with green waves, that I guess kind of looks like it could be an ear with waves coming out of it) and the Location Services Icon (Target Icon) is all. Location Services is allowing programs access to where you are (through Network Triangulation, as well as probably through GPS if its on). The GPS Sat Icon won't even show up unless your phone is actively seeking/syncing with GPS satellites, so even if you turn on GPS, that icon may not show up unless you or something on your device does something which requests your location, via the GPS radio.

JrD's point also brings up a question: I read the FAQ over at Mobile Defense (creators of the same named app, which allows tracking of your phone via GMaps) that even if you leave the GPS feature on, there should be no impact to battery, unless the phone is using its GPS radio (which is shown by the GPS antenna icon).
