1.) Plug the EVO into your Mac.
2.) A menu will popup on your EVO asking you to select the connection type.
3.) Select Disk Drive.
4.) A drive will show up on your Mac desktop called "No Name".
5.) Drag whichever files you want over to the SD card.
You can also make your life a lot easier by downloading iSync from the Market so you can sync with your iTunes playlist.Thanked by: - 06-05-2010, 03:01 PM

Trying to use EVO with my Mac
I am a new EVO owner and also own a Mac. I have plugged my EVO into my Mac, but I do not get a pop up message, and my Mac does not recognize the phone as a drive. I have also changed the setting under PC Connection to disk drive and connected the phone to my Mac, no luck either. Any suggestions on what to try, or what I am doing wrong?

Also, download doubleTwist, which is like iTunes, except for Android. The only difference, though, is that doubleTwist for Mac is lagging behind the Windows version when it comes to podcasts. The Windows version has the ability to subscribe to podcasts (and thus sync them with your EVO), whereas the Mac version does not. This is irritating and the reason why I still have an iPod Touch (no other free/inexpensive Mac apps can do that right now. Sailing Media Sync is IMHO not very good, and Missing Sync costs WAY too much).

Same Problem. Need help with making Evo work with Mac
I, too, have a Mac. I have had my EVO for 2 weeks and have had lots of problems. I've bought Missing Sync ($40) to try to sync calendars, music, pics, todos, memos, contacts, etc. Quite frankly, it has been a real hassle.
I have Synced many times in all ways (wifi, bluetooth, and cable). Some music comes over (playlist duplicates are made?!), most music does not come over at all. Pics come over low-res for some reason. Calendars are not talking. Fliq Calendar (required by Missing Sync) is useless. Fliq Notes doesn't keep my Entourage file folders. I get an error message every sync. Mark/Space (maker of Missing Sync) has HORRIBLE customer service. You've got to dig to find a phone number, then you get a voice mail saying, "go to our website." The only free support is to email a "ticket" that they say they will answer in a few days. I've sent three...one was answered...5 days later with a condescending, simplistic, short answer. I replied. I'm still waiting...
Because Missing Sync is proving to be a flop, I'm trying other ways/apps to do the job. I like the idea of one central app (Missing Sync, or whatever) to do it all. Presently, I'm trying to sync music with iSyncr. The calendars are working acceptably with Google Calendar (GooCal) as the primary controller (I had to move all my calendar info to GooCal first). iCal is only read-only regarding the GooCal items.
I'm not impressed with Quickoffice. Some word document attachments will not open, and none can be edited. Is there something else?
Just today, my EVO stopped showing up as connected to the Mac and vice versa when connected via USB. I've tried three different cords. It used to annoyingly open iPhoto automatically upon connecting USB. Now...nothing.
I love the EVO. It is really amazing in many ways. But it is not proving to be Mac friendly. I'm missing my Palm Treo for the tasks I NEED. Is there a one-stop-shop besides Missing Sync that can help me? Is there a Mac-lover out there with similar issues who will give a brother a hand?
Any help would be appreciated! - 08-18-2010, 01:58 PM #9
I only use macs and have none of these problems. As I have stated I use Spanning Sync for calendars and contacts and it is wireless. For music and photos I use Sailing Media Sync. These work flawlessly.
For documents I use Documents to go, costs a little and just works for word, pdf, Excel, and more.
To reiterate, been doing this since last year, first with MOTO Droid and now with Evo. No problems at all. - 08-18-2010, 04:05 PM #10

I'm a Mac user at home and work and have no issues.
I wasn't thrilled with doubletwist and so don't bother syncing my music. I just mounted the EVO as a disk drive way back when I connected for the first time, grabbed my itunes music folder and dropped it on the "No name" disc drive (the EVO). 15 or so minutes later, I was good to go.
And since I mostly create and listen to playlists on the EVO, I use "MixZing" (another great app) to create and save playlists on the phone. So I have no use for a syncing app really. Now I just use "Awesome Drop" (*great* simple, free app you should find and try) for the stray pic or file or new song I want to add.
And I use Dropbox as a matter of habbit to keep all my other files synched at work, home, and on the EVO. 2GB are free!
Easy peasy.Last edited by srfcrzy; 08-18-2010 at 05:19 PM.

I feel your pain. Missing Sync works reasonably well for me... but not without some effort. Check out this

in my case, i only have an android because i couldnt pay the monthly bill for my iphone. i'd still have one today if i could. apple as a company is ^&*()d, and i hate them, but os x and iphones are the best by far. Android has a long way before they can compete. I triple-boot os x, linux and windows. Nothing like os x
