Default [How To] Record Video with the Flash ON!!

    Download from the Market

    "LED Light"

Then open it and click it on and your flash on your camera should come on

    Then..

Open up your Camera and switch to camera and now you have Video Recording with Flash

Also works on Qik and Fring video (tested)

Hunh... the Desire Light works perfectly on my Evo. It lights up both LEDs and is one of my favorite apps/widgets.

What happens when you run the Desire Light app?

Desire Light app/widget blows the regular LED light app out of the water....simply put...no comparison. Desire Light is the real deal. The LEDs when lit to highest brightness are down right blinding.

I've been trying to tell folks about this and they won't listen....I see everyone using LED Light still. Desire LED light app/widget is where it's at. If they only gave it a chance...they'd see the light....literally.

Ha....you'll be amazed man....amazed. LED light works....sure, but the real potential of this phone is tapped with Desire LED light. It has a real widget...not that phony one LED light has and when you actually go into the app, Desire LED light gives you 4 different brightness levels. The one the regular LED app offers is the lowest output for the LEDs found on the EVO.....with Desire...you crank it up 3 more brightness levels up, of which are astounding brightnesses. Like I said....overwhelming and darn near blinding.

    You'll see.

This works great and makes low-light video recordings come out really well...thanks for the tip. It seems like this should be something the camcorder app had built in.

FYI, the download info says "Use responsibly, prolonged use may damage light" and I believe it...I can see how this could burn out the LED if used for too long.

Oh yeah...most definitely. Not for extended use....even the regular ol' LED light app....these LEDs weren't made for ongoing light. They're design was to provide flash....not video light, flashlight, etc. Therefore...use judiciously.

I just installed both, and both have their own pros and cons. LED Light has a nice On/Off Switch Widget, but the light isn't as bright as the Desire's. When I turned on the Desire LED and turned the phone around to see how bright the LEDs were, I was seeing spots for a good 5 minutes. It is definitely a beast. As it is so bright I would be afraid to use it as it would kill the battery a lot faster and burn out the LEDs as well per the warning where as the LED Light seems like it would get the job done and be less harmful on the phone and its resources. Both apps however will stay on my phone. You never know when you will need to flag in a stray ship. LOL!

The widget for Desire LED app actually triggers the LEDs on/off whereas the regular LED light app shows a widget icon but doesn't trigger the light on when you press it. It acts more like a shortcut to app that when pressing it, it takes you into the app itself where you can then turn it on/off. With the regular LED app and its widget, it's more of a two-step process whereas on the Desire LED light app and its widget, it's just press it and it turns the light on for you at the lowest setting.

I really would like to know more about this. The LED's do not look any different from any LED flashlight I own, and I own a LOT of them. I am into LED flashlights! ii

They do not seem to light any brighter than a 2 LED flashlight so why would they wear out any faster? What would be so different about them if they appear the same?

Actually, the Desire widget turns the LED on to whatever brightness setting you selected in the full app. So, use the app to set the level that you want and then you can use the widget to turn it on and off to that same level.

There is an On/Off Widget for LED Light. There is the App shortcut like you stated, but also a Widget as well.

Busting my chops, I see. To tell you the truth, I'm not certain on that. My presumption really. I will still err on the side of caution. A LED flashlight is just that....a flashlight. HTC didn't give us a video light on/off button feature in the camcorder. I figure there was a reason for that. Just my two measely ol' cents.

I stand corrected. Don't know it for a fact but will take your word for it. Given Android and all its goodness....I have no doubt it's available.

Actually I was not busting your chops at all. The app itself says that! I am simply curious in general about the LED.

I remembered I saw a thread in this and I was recording video for 30 secs in low light so instead my friends busted out his iphone 4 which can by default use led light with camera

This thing is crazy bright. If you use it periodicaly over the course of months could it still cause damage?

I use incredilight. It works great for me and has different brightness settings. You may have to have your phone rooted to use it though.
