That really depends on your definitions of "problem" and "basic use". The EVO is such a versatile device, much more than a mere phone, that it invites you to use it for a large variety of tasks. The more you use the EVO, of course, the shorter the battery life. If you are determined to use the EVO primarily as a phone, you can easily disable wi-fi, blue tooth, GPS, and 4G radios and extend the battery life to last through the day. Realistically the EVO needs to be charged every night to be ready for the next day's use.
As you come to rely upon the EVO more and more for directions, web browsing, short videos, or playing games, the power consumption increases accordingly. This thread contains many hints for making the EVO's battery power last longer:
