I got my EVO last friday and I just want to say that I love it, but getting used to Android is taking me awhile to master but its all good. I had used the Palm Pre for the past year and fell in love with WebOS, but with the crappy hardware and small app count i felt it was time to switch phones. There are a couple of things that i do miss though and i just wanted to know what other people who switched to the Evo from WebOS missed.

1. Touchstone

2. Homebrew (I haven't yet learned about rooting or rom's so this might change)

3. How easy it was to search the app catalog. There might have only been 2700 apps but finding the one you were looking for was pretty easy.

4. With that small app count that palm had there were some gems in there. Some of the apps I miss are: Fall-E, whats for dinner, paratroopers etc. (there might be good replacements for these in the android market but see # 3)

Thats about it.

Nothing. The Pre was utter junk. I don't care how awesome the Software or OS on a phone is if the Hardware is faulty and crap. I went through 5 Pres total (3 in 3 weeks) all with internal Hardware defects.

Palm buried themselves by taking these defective phones and putting them back in the cycle as refurbs without fixing what was wrong with them. Apparently they think that a Factory Reset of the phone will fix Hardware defects.

If you missing the touchstone as much as i am comming in July for 39.99 powermat has a new intergrated battery technology where they just replace the stock battery under factory cover and set it on a mat and its charging. in the link below they have several devices including a couple HTC devices

The only thing i miss is the Checkbook app, the unified email box, & swiping to delete. Android is superior in every other way.

yeah I was looking at the powermat online the other day. The touchstone was really nice it made living with the terrible battery life that much easier.

Wado, try EasyMoney (although it does cost $10 after the 30 day trial) or Checkbook which has a free and a paid version for $1.99. I have used both and both are great. I prefer EasyMoney more though just cause it is cleaner looking and has a crap ton more features. It is worth the $10 in my eyes.

The only thing I miss is the ease of deleting things with the swipe gesture. An example I have some ringtones on my Evo that I cannot figure out how to delete them. There probably is a really simple solution for this but I cannot figure it out (any suggestions would be appreciated). Other than that I really like the Evo and Android

The only thing I miss right now is the Sporting News app. for baseball. I know it's just one app, But I liked the way it synced all of your favorite teams schedule to the calender and it reminded you when the game was going to start. I miss that a lot, I do however do miss a lot of other things but I can live with out it.

I am using a program called Loot. I looked at EasyMoney but I wasn't willing to pay 10 bucks. Loot looks pretty cool so far but i loved the categories that WebOS Checkbook had.

The cool thing with EasyMoney though is you can create your own Categories for purchases. Also you can set up repeat transactions for bills and stuff and when you type in a place you have already put in there it will auto fill it out and change it to the proper Category you first set it to.
