    Default Lets talk Evo Browsers...

Stock is the worst of all I have tried. Dolphin and Xscope are 1 and 2 in my books, not sure which order. How about you guys?

I like the stock browser so far... what makes these other two better?

I like stock after trying dolphin, skyfire, and opera. I'm not a big fan of other browsers when the stock does its job.... For me at least.

same here I've never had any issues with the stock browser. If you say the others are better can you explain why please.

Stock is best for me as well, i also have dolphin installed and its laggy at times and not as smooth or fast loading pages, but the tabs are very cool and useful for going back and forth instead of having to use the windows option in menu ... other than that its not bad a good second option i guess,

I prefer dolphin to stock at this point. The tabbed browsing is rad.

Tabs are nice, but the awful browser experience compared to stock makes me stop caring quickly.

So, they need to add tabs to the stock browser (which I'm surprised they don't already have) and animated GIF support which is coming in Froyo.

Biggest issue with stock was no tab browsing, that is a must for me as i always like having a few pages open.

Also Dolphin has the gesture feature and IMO just a much smoother browser

Dolphin is fast..., until it hits a lag or latency point, then you wait forever. No such problems with Xscope. Stock is nice in that I can use a Roboform bookmarklet with it. Xscope is the default for me though.

I generally am content with the stock browser. I've tried Opera as well.

    Good about Opera:
    1) It is very fast to download compared to the stock browser.
    2) When you open the browser, it opens to a page of bookmarks, one of which is to the New York Times. They apparently have put some work in on the New York Times link, as it is complete, not seriously scrambled, and a fairly decent reading experience. You can add your own links to this opening page of bookmarks.

    Bad about Opera:
    1) Opera scrambles the layout of many sites, presumably due to the compression done to make for fast downloads. In a few cases, the scrambling moves past the annoying to making things into gibberish.
    2) No pinching to zoom or expand the view. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR ME!

Thanks to the no-pinching problem, I use Opera to read the New York Times every day or two, but don't use it for much else.

I haven't tried many browsers beyond Opera and the stock browser.

By the way, I like this topic. One of my main uses for a smart phone, including my new EVO, has always been to browse the internet on the go. Clearly browsers are a big part of that.

The stock browser does have tabs... but not used efficiently.
You go to menu--> windows... then choose what window.

I enjoy dolphin because of the gestures and the ease of access to bookmarks. Plus, holding back let's you kill the app so that its not simply suspended, a la stock.

I absolutely love the stock browser, i dont have the slightest need to even consider another one.

But how do you effectively quit out of the stock browser?

have you tried Dolphin HD? you can configure it so that u can hide that annoying gesture crap, u can drag right to open up ur bookmarks, drag left and down to open up tabs when in fullscreen mode, or see your tabs at all times when fullscreen is disabled, its the best.

Why bother. If it's not in use, it uses no resources. Let Android handle closing apps when necessary. That's what it's designed to do, and it does it very well.

Did you hear that somewhere and are just now repeating it, or is that a fact, because I'm looking at system panel with the stock browser closed/minimized/whatever and its telling me internet is using 19% of the CPU. That sounds like its using resources to me...

And another thing the stock browser seems to lack is in Google images (of all places!) - I cant filter images by size like in a normal browser.

I just use ATK to kill it. I have a set of apps/widgets that I do not close... and I close the rest, especially after a 3d game/heavy browsing.

It's definitely a fact the stock browser uses no resources in background. I think you have something wrong going on but I'm not sure what. System panel shows no usage for me.

I use Dolphin HD exclusively and love its tabbed browsing and bookmarking features.
