Too EVO or Not Too EVO
Wow... anyone returning their EVO for the Samsung Galaxy S Pro 4G?
Processor: 45nm hummingbird processor with PowerVR SGX540 GPU and low power consumption @ 1GHz
Screen: 24bit (Unlike the EVO's 16bit) 4-inch (thats .3inches smaller than EVO), Super AMOLED (Blacks are very dark, "almost look wet.")
Cameras: 5MP rear-facing camera with 1x optical zoom, 720p recording. Front-facing camera is VGA.
Very nice Specs! - 06-20-2010, 08:20 PM #2
No offence to the Samsung Galaxy S Pro but it looks ugly. If I had that phone I would be hiding it from my friends that I had it.
So no, I won't be returning it :P. - 06-20-2010, 08:23 PM #3
Its not even a question my friend. Just get an EVO.

It does indeed look ugly.
The screen on the original Samsung Galaxy looks gorgious though.
And the thing that gets me is the GPU.
It gets 57 fps on Neocore, while other Android phones get around 25fps.
Otherwise, I don't want a hardware keyboard anymore.
Besides the screen and the GPu, everything else seems a step behind. - 06-20-2010, 09:09 PM #12
I never thought I would like a virtual keyboard (switched to the Pre to get a real keyboard), but I was wrong. I LOVE being able to type on the phone in not only landscape mode, but in portrait mode as well.
And because I can zoom to any size lettering I want, I keep my phone in portrait mode now, and so I like to type in portrait mode as well, and with the Samsung I would have to rotate the phone to landscape to type on it, and I just don't like doing that anymore, so I will be keeping my Evo. Besides, I still LOVE it's huge screen. :-D - 06-20-2010, 09:22 PM #13

I'm tired of hearing people cry about Frames per Second. If you want to play 3d games get a PS3. Otherwise deal with it. I'd never give up a phone because of it's inability to play 3d games. That's ridiculous. Regular games will suffice to my liking. I don't need some crazy need for speed hot pursuit running at ridiclous fps...... geez people, c'mon.

HTC vs Samsung need I say more. I am happy with my EVO I will be keeping it.

Sigh. What do you expect the response is going to be when you post something like this in the EVO forum?
But, really, no phone is perfect, each has its strengths and weaknesses. Do the research and buy the one that best meets your most important needs. (I've written this so many times, I ought to put it in my sig.) If Gameplay is your prime concern, then maybe the Galaxy S will be a better choice. If a physical keyboard is a priority, then ditto. If you love the Sense UI, then the Samsung probably isn't your best choice. If you prefer a thinner phone, ditto.
But whatever you choose, don't go back and brag about it on a forum dedicated to another device, or complain about the perceived problems with that other device. Because your phone isn't perfect either. There's not an Android device sold (nor a iPhone OS, WebOS, BB, Palm OS, or any other phone) that people don't have complaints with.Last edited by meyerweb; 06-20-2010 at 10:05 PM.

It's a matter of preference. I've always had a thing for HTC and their interface, not to mention the phone design. I don't like horizontal keyboards (I LOVED my Pre), and I don't really like the look of the phone. My wife may get one, though. She's a physical keyboard lover =).

HTC has had their problems however how minimal they are but atleast they own up to it and try to get the problems fixed. I for one havent had ANY problems with my Evo. And the only problems that it may have they are already working on an ota for it...and froyo should enhance and fix the others.
Its really a matter of preference like others said. To me a phone should be some personable and something that you're going to like and comfortable using. I love the sense ui and its wigdets so ill be sticking with HTC for a while. Im just comfortable with it. After playing around with a few samsung android phones...just my opinion their UI sucks big time.
lol ill always buy a samsung tv tho...cant touch their phones. - 06-21-2010, 01:32 AM #23
unfortunately samsung must think a phone with a keyboard has to look like sh*t and like a toy...I remember an article back in march/april on Engadget showing a sexy Samsung Galaxy S pro..But anyways, I think I will keep my EVO..I got to have something to keep all my iphone toting friends on their toes.

Must admit the Samsung Galaxy S Pro Whatever hasn't caused me an iota of buyer's remorse.
The new story on this site's homepage (the one mentioning the leaked specs) refers to the thing as "plasticy" on like four occasions. With all the griping here about every single little thing wrong with the Evo, I can only imagine how this Samsung phone would be devoured if it feels plasticy. - 06-21-2010, 02:26 AM #25
