I love this damn phone

I just got mine yesterday, I don't see the complaints on battery life mine seems to be excellent, esp. compared to my old Pre.

I love this phone... man I thought I'd miss webOS but this is better in so many ways! My techie side has finally gotten an answer.

I agree with you 100%. I've had the phone for about a week now and it is great. You know what I miss about the Pre? The touchstone. The moment that someone comes out with an alternative to that which doesn't require a case for the phone (integrated to battery?) I am buying and being super happy.

I agree, with the rest of you, HTC EVO 4G Rules. I loved the web os. but I made the right choice. I do miss my touchstones. I had three.

I do not have reservations about recommending it like I did with my old phone

I do let folks know (especially coming from feature phones) about the battery life and high end 3D gaming limitations in addition to warning of expectations from picture and video capture quality....

Still, I love this darn phone.

I too gave up my PRE for the EVO. It is the phone that I have long waited for. The only thing webOS does better than Android is multitask (I will give credit where credit is due). Not that Android deosn't multitask, but webOS's implementation with card view is way better. That being said, Android and the EVO smoke the PRE and webOS is every other way possible!! When I look back at the tiny screen on my PRE I wonder how I ever used it! All the google app integration and functionality into Android is simply awesome (maps, navigation, earth, sky view, etc...). Have you seen the street view option on Google Maps?!? Unbelievable!! Google Navigation is far superior to Sprint Navigation. Everything just works. This phone hasn't left me with the thought, "If only they would have done this..." The EVO/Android combo has met and exceeded every expectation that I had and helped me to set some new expectations for future smartphone HW and SW.

I started out with the Samsung Instinct a few years back, as it was touted as the iPhone Killer. After a few days I knew it wasn't even in the same ball park. Moved to a BlackBerry and knew right away, that wasn't it either. Had high hopes for the PRE and webOS, but it just lacked the HorsePower (HP!) to compete. Now, with the Evo, I can finally hold a phone in front of my iPhone wielding friends and say, "How ya like me now!" This phone is it!!

Me too. PowerMat is really close to it too. You change the battery, not the back cover.

You know the card system was great for multi tasking but the Pre was so painfully slow that I multi task better with the Evo.

That's not saying much considering how absolutely abysmal the Pre's battery life is. I could never get through an entire day without having to charge in the evening even with my relatively light usage habits (no bluetooth, no GPS, manual syncing).

I'm done with Palm. They had some great ideas as far as how an OS should work, but releasing the half-baked Pre (both hardware AND software) was the final nail in their coffin. Personally I don't see HPalm being a major smartphone player especially since I consider HP to be the General Motors of the computer industry (their products may work fine...mostly, but you'll never see anything innovative or top-of-its-class from them).

I agree, I left the Pre for the same reasons and I'm really loving Android and the Evo.

My first ever full discharge I got 22 hours with 5 hours of use... now that is pretty damn good battery life if you ask me.

I love my phone too! I will admit the EVO may not be perfect, but if it were the only phone I owned for the rest of my life I would be content.

You're preaching to the choir. Tell us some you don't like, or something you miss about the Pre.

I also am coming from the Pre. I miss the cards. Easily switching between apps. I miss the form factor. The Evo is the very first smartphone (there's been a bunch) I've ever owned without a real keyboard. Learning curve there.

I miss setting custom ringtones by caller.

Single biggest thing I'm still getting used to, the size of the keyboard. It feels like I'm using an old brick phone holding it to my ear. But I still get oohs & aahs when I play video on it.

No b******* or moaning. The Evo by far is the best phone I've ever owned.

I adapt really quickly, and I love new experiences. While I really loved WebOS, I can't say I miss it solely because the EVO is doing everything my Pre did (for me of course) and doing it a lot better.

I was always envious of widgets, and I understand the whole concept of cards doesn't really make sense with widgets because you can just go to the next card, but I like having some access to an app without having it fully open.

It did take a while to get out of the habit of trying to swipe everything around, but it isn't that bad... One thing I really do miss about WebOS is the fact that things werent that hard to get to, with Android the menu's aren't terrible... they can just get a tad bit cumbersome in comparison.

Yep, Android and EVO are awesome. 17 hours yesterday with good usage and it was at 40% when I plugged in before bed. And everything is just great about this phone!

To set a custom per-caller ringtone, just go into the People app, find the contact, and set the custom ringtone.

am a newvie to this whole operation(android system/evo) and this whole forum idea,i defected from the pre, love the webos and loyal palm supporter,when the evo came out all that loyaltie went out the door :-) this is a hell of a phone ,please all suggestion and guide to maximize my evo experience is appreciated . thanks ..............defector

I may be in the minority here, but I quickly learned to live without the card system of WebOS. I much rather have widgets and 7 home screens that keep me well organized. Flipping/scrolling through launcher pages was a PITA to me.

I so want an EVO my upgrade date was today and I called every Best Buy within 50 miles of me everyone is sold out I did get one to give me a rain check so they will call when they get some in and another told me they were still expecting some this week. I'm going to keep calling every day until I get one I'm tired of this Pre and all of Palms promises.

A ind live this phone like a fat kids loves cake, best phone ever I've messed with the iphone because my ex and my brother have one and it doesn't compare.
