I Hate Sprint Tech. My Evo4G Is Sitting.

My phone started wigging out after using it non-stop for the last week for navigation and music.
Touch screen becomes unresponsive at random times.

I took it to Sprint waited in the LONG line and was told by the greeter that I HAD to take it back to Best Buy where I bought it because T.E.P. only covered physical damage and my phone had none.
I had to ask her to sign me in and walk away. I'm "courteous" enough not to hold up the line arguing with nonsense.

I was then told I had to leave the phone overnight.

Here's the kicker: I asked if it had to be rel=placed if they had any available for replacement. I was told no. I asked how long to get a replacement, I was told that the phone is on backorder and they can't order any.
I specifically asked about the backorder applying to replacement phones and was again told they couldn't order a replacement.

So, I'm hoping that last part is nonsense like what I was told first.

Replacement phones are available, correct?

Then what do "you" do with an unusable Evo4G on a line that you use?
I don't like where this is headed.

As a side note the counter guy asked me to kill ADW and the phone didn't lockup as much although it did. I'm almost hoping ADW could be the culprit now, (not likely since it did act up in Sense).

I don't know if you have tried this but have you done a full reset? That may help.

If the phone is dead, you can try calling other Bestbuy's and see if they have Evo's. They may also be kind enough to give you a lender phone, but I am not too sure.

If they can't find a replacement unit, they may offer you a "comparable" phone. At this point I would guess that could include the Hero, Moment or Pre.

None of those are comparable *sigh

I wiped, flashed a different ROM, then unrooted and flashed the stock ROM.
It did the same in all ROMs.

Take it to a Sprint Corporate store, they will scan the back of your phone, get you to sign a paper, and come back in an hour later. Every Sprints Corp. Store has on hand techs to fix the phone. You probably took it to a regular Sprint store.

Not all Sprint Corporate stores have repair centers.

Really well good thing mine close to me do. Then you need to make a call and find a store close to you that has on hand repair centers. Maybe a 2nd hand repair shop that deals with Sprint phones.

Nope. I took it to a Corporate store that does have techs on hand. I hate that place with a passion.
This is where Sprint really falls short. Phone CS is wonderful, the employee at the stores... I'd rather deal with trained monkeys.

I took my Pre in once and when I got it back I found they techs had been watching my porn. The movies all started playing near the end, the Pre starts where it left off.
They actually asked for my gmail user name and password when I dropped it off so they could "restore my contacts if they needed to reset".

Lol watching your porn, wow dude you should email Dan CEO of Sprint and tell him how bad your corp store is. That sucks ass. When my instinct touchscreen acted up I took it to my corp store they were real cool about everything. Have them print you out a list of stores and 2nd stores with techs and try one of them. I wish you the best of luck. My sandisk card 16gb is only 3weeks old and it stopped working and I thought it was my evo. I was like noooooooooo lol. But its the card. I did everything with my evo and have not touched my computer since.

Employees at preferred dealers are typically more helpful than corporate employees. I suggest trying to find a preferred dealer that has a repair center and see if they can do an advanced exchange on your EVO. You will get a refurbished unit, but though all my years as a Sprint tech it's really not a big deal and you can not tell the difference.

Mine was having coverage issues, I ordered online. Long story short is Sprint (on phone) told me the same thing about backorder. Before the call was actually over, he said "your replacement phone is on it's way" . I was lost, he said they have a few in stock in case something like this happens. My local Sprint store said the same thing. I had to talk specifically to a manager at the store, regular clerks automatically said out of evos. I would go to best buy and talk directly to manager. Be polite and maybe he can help hurry the process for you. Try calling Sprint also. Good Luck

As I figured: The tech, "who is also the advocate for the phone", found nothing.
I was told I should've shown it to the rep when I dropped it off. I showed her one of the reps who saw the problem when I dropped it off and it was dismissed.
Before I got to my car it locked up, the next hour was a combo of waiting, once for the greeter to finish with a customer, who's bright idea was it to have the person who checks you in to do things, or at least try, like setting up email?, and for the tech who never showed.

Now what's Dan Hesses' email address

LOL, I think this is the funniest post I've read so far. Hope you get your evo fixed/replaced ASAP.
