    Default Evo destroys the Vibrant...video.

I am sad to admit this, because I returned my Evo for the Epic, bought the Vibrant to try it out and here it is on wi-fi under normal use compared to my wifes Evo.

my bad, is still processing, so quality will get better when its done on the video.

Wow it's definitely faster. Weird. Gotta say I don't like the UI in that Vibrant. I still think Sense is the best version of Android, even better than the basic vanilla version. Still think the Galaxy S phones are good though.

I am guessing its the touchwiz that makes it lag so much, because the hummingbird processor is supposed to be faster.

nothing that rooting and installing clean android wont fix

Ya that's what I was thinking. Very surprised. How is the touchwiz? Don't like it based on what I've seen. Is there "bloatware" worse than HTC? Not that I think HTC's is bad, just saying.

Ive rooted before, but havent installed a clean android, since i had the hero and the evo and liked htc sense. Tuchwiz was alright, the worst part is the colors they use for everything... make the phone look like a kids phone.

well the vibrant looked horrible in that video. it locked up forever. i wonder if maybe the vibrant needed a reboot or something cause that was poor

Yeah I am almost certain that the vibrant on this video probably had some issues. A lemon or something. Samsung hummingbird is supposed to be really powerful. And in my honest opinion, EVERYTHING beats the cheap qualcomm processor.

That Vibrant does seem to have issues.

But who knows. Can we get more tests?
I just know the GPU is supposed to be 10x better.

Don't underestimate the snappiness of the Snapdragon though. It's good at what it does, even with a weak GPU.

Edit: Possibly touchwiz needs some kinks worked out?

What keyboard is that you got running on the Evo?

I played with a Vibrant at the TMobile Kiosk in the mall, and it didn't seem that slow as the one in the the video. I did notice that hitting the 4 Android buttons at the bottom was a bit trickier and the buttons didn't respond as fast as they do on the Evo. And while the screen on the Vibrant looked great, I still prefer the massiveness of the Evo.

If only the Evo had that faster GPU....oh well, there is always next year by which time there will hopefully be some kick **** 3d games out for Android.

Im guessing touchwiz. I have gone as far as doing a factory reset and same results. I saw a video of the evo vs the galaxy S and they had the same lag getting out of apps...it goes black for a second. I hope I got a lemon, because I returned my Evo and Evo's are sold out now.

Sharpwriter, its like Swype, but I think the developer took it out of the market.

I don't know. I played today with two different Vibrant they were definitely faster than my Evo in EVERY regards!. Thre one in the video must have a problem...

I think its HTC optimizing everything on the EVO. I still think HTC has a leg up on Samsung both in there knowledge of how to optimize the platform to a particular device and HTC is better at getting out updated software to devices.

That Vibrant ran slower than my old Hero. Haha.
I dont know if something was wrong with it. But this is a great example of why people need to wait for a product to come out before you spend so much time drinking the sweat from its balls.
People fall in love with some benchmark test on a 3d game that doesnt matter and use that to claim one phone is better than the other. Let a phone get released and let people use it for a few weeks and see how it really performs. Has Samsung ever made a good phone?
Why do they deserve the respect at this point everyone game them with this phone?
Maybe its a bad model. maybe its touchwiz. Whatever it is its not good.
3d Graphic benchmark nerds can insult the snapdragon because of some benchmark test they dont even understand, but in real world phone use the EVO has been shown to be the fastest phone their is. Fast as in using, lauching apps, ect.

Give it a little time and EVO will be fast. The other problem is that t-mobile blows here in MN.

I don't know. I have seen some real life comparisons with the Snapdragon processor against the Samsung processor and the Droid X processor and the snapdragon won every time. I think that people are expecting these new processors to be netters because they are newer. But I don't think that it the case. For all of you EVO owners, just accept the fact that your processor is the best around so far.

Yes, T-Mobile is terrible but the network is irrelevant in this comparison because the OP had both phones running on Wifi.

I meant to say the other way around, the Samsung is new. Give it time. I don't get all of these comparison videos, especially cross networks. Get what you like.
