I figured they would rip on it....they also gave the Incredible a 5 out of 5, and even the Palm Pre Plus got a 5 out of 5.

Re: G4 AOTS finally reviewed the Evo.. it's not good folks..
I've never heard of that site that offered the review. Typical biased internet review. Lord knows....perhaps that site is run by Verizon

Yeah they did give the Palm Pre Plus a 5...
And they were complaining about lack of 4g coverage...
I mean, it's whatever.
It's not like they did an intense review. It seemed "surface-like"... - 07-19-2010, 10:09 PM #5

No such thing as 5/5 or 10/10. Perfect scores? Dumbasses.

Overall, it wasn't that bad of a review. They ripped on the 4G coverage, and the 10 dollar extra charge, but we all do that too. They then mentioned that even with the 10 extra dollar it is still cheaper. Not sure why they say that the screen is not as responsive as the others....don't know what review unit they got, but my screen is every bit as responsive as an iPhone 4.
They should have reviewed it when it came out, when the competition wasn't around yet, but, that was during E3 and they didn't have time. - 07-19-2010, 11:55 PM #11
Re: G4 AOTS finally reviewed the Evo.. it's not good folks..
Yea it's funny thing about the $10 extra charge. Any reviewers that mark the EVO 4G down for that are idiots.
If they take the time to compare the final price and note that Sprint is still cheaper, then they gain cred in my book.

Notice the Iphone 4 at the beginning of the review slip nicely back into Chris Hardwick's pocket? Actually watch the show often and it's clearly an Apple tilt, though they have attempted to cover "antennagate." They use Apple as the measuring rod for every smartphone and tablet they review, which has become standard practice for the gadget community. Really haven't had an issue with reviews of other devices, or this review for that matter. Just wish they didn't treat Apple devices as the end all be all, but rather review a device on its own merits. Guess that's the trade off when you own a device personally, yet try to review other devices professionally.

Why does everyone miss the fact that the extra 10 bucks a month lifts the 5 gig data cap?
Lets see. I pay Sprint 10 bucks for 50 gig a month, or I could pay at&t $25 25 times($625) for the same amount of data usage...which you could pull off tethering.HTC Evo 4G on the Sprint Network. - 07-20-2010, 06:07 AM #14
If you go five stars I would give the EVO 3 and I'm am a huge fan. I would jump it to 4 if they gave what they preach with the EVO and thats 4G. I don't get 4G but if I did then it would get a 4. The Incredable would get a 4 and the X, you get exactly what they preach. I would go 3.5 on the Iphone since they are lagging in areas but they have the best apps for now.
When you give me a phone that can print wirelessly, full internet capability and strong battery life you get your 5. That would be a full communications device, Computer and non eating power hungry beast in the palm of your hand.
This is just my opinion.... - 07-20-2010, 07:33 AM #15
I'd say that the EVO would get 4 out of 5 stars just for the design of having the camera lens flush to the bezel which contacts the table when the phone is laid down with the screen up (as most people I know are prone to do). The lens should have been recessed, even one millimeter would have been enough.

G4 is nothing but fail. Bring back TechTV.
- 07-20-2010, 10:20 AM #18
how can the droid have 5 of 5 when its missing some features that people may actually care about like 4g and front facing camera.

This was probably one of the worst reviews I have ever seen.
The $10 fee gives me as much GB'sas I want. Did they mention that AT&T has a 2 GB limit in comparison? NO! Didn't the iphone at one time have a similar "premium fee?"
The Camera lens sticking out is a fair complaint. But thats what screen protectors are for.
Chris Hardwicks terrible jokes/complaints about 4G sucked. Yes its not everywhere, but did he miss the memo that 4G was JUST introduced and is being rolled out quickly. And the EVO is the FIRST phone capable of 4G? Also what about the 3G coverage? It rules.
Its not as responsive as the X or the iPhone 4...Did you guys apply the 6/29 OTA before talking out of your asses about the issue.
The phone is too big Chris? Spend a week with the EVO and you'll never go back to that pea size screen on the iPhone.
Then they cried about battery life. I doubt they have applied any of the improvements like cutting down on the stuff that syncs, killing google talk, applying the OTA. I get 15 -20 hours of use a day, then it is time for bed. This phone is more powerful than the computer I owned in 2000, of course its going to use a lot of power. Its not a simple flip phone, its a smart phone.
These guys are "techies?" Yeah right. I would rather have Regis Philbin review the Evo than these tools. Chris Hardwick's attempt to be a comedian with this review was embarrassing. This guy sucks at everything he does on the show. The other dude only has fame because of Olivia Munn. Lets be honest, if she wasnt on the show, then they would lose 90% of their viewers.Virgin Mobile Arc -> HTC EVO 4G - 07-20-2010, 11:44 AM #20
Like it's been mentioned before, faulting the EVO for 4G not being everywhere is dumb when they still praise the **** out of the iPhone, though ATT's 3G coverage isn't the greatest either.

I was excited for when G4 would finally do a review of the phone but I hate when Chris Hardwick reviews anything. All of his reviews are very "surfacy" if I had to make up a word...
It really seems like he takes the item, plays with it for 5 minutes, and decides it's enough time to make up some BS about it.
I haven't seen this review yet though, and honestly I could understand them for dinging the phone for the terrible 4g coverage. Every time I hear the sprint commercial "What would YOU do with the first 4g phone?" All I can think of is "um, not get 4g coverage with it, that's what I'd do!"
And my area HAS 4g coverage. My house has excellent 4g coverage (when I had clear) and my phone picks up one bar if I'm lucky. It's annoying, and it deserves at least 1 less star/seal/roadhouse/whatever for it. - 07-20-2010, 02:11 PM #23
I love that show but I would never really trust their phone or gadget reviews of any kind. It's just an entertainment show to me.
- 07-20-2010, 02:26 PM #24
Seemed more like a Sprint review/bash than a review of the Evo. I agree that we shouldn't be paying the xtra 10 a month until we actually have 4g coverage but most people knew that going in. Not a good review at all...

Who cares what AOTS says anyway? That show has sucked balls for quite a while now.
