Sense Froyo and Swype
Just to let all of you swype users know, I have installed the leaked version of Sense Froyo and it breaks swype. Tap typing still works, but swyping does not. I tried to reinstall Swype using the installer from the beta and it did not recognize Sense Froyo as a version of android.
This is mostly and FYI, but if someone has a fix, I would love to hear it. - 08-01-2010, 01:30 PM #2
It does not break Swype because I'm using it now on Froyo?
You did something wrong. - 08-01-2010, 01:44 PM #3

I did that. I uninstalled swype, and reinstalled it. It's there, but when I click on the textbox, the swype keyboards doesn't come up.

Unfortunately the swype beta has ended. I wonder when they will release an official version? I'm still trying to get my swype to work. Uninstalled and reinstalled it twice using the email from their website. going to try it again. You have to go to swypes website and sign up for the beta or search high and low and you might find a copy.
I have the froyo leak and swype works fine. You do have to uninstall and install the beta back. I am on my EVO using it right now with no problem.yEzZiR! - samsung n400 w/camera > Sanyo mm7400 > Sanyo VM4500> Samsung Instinks > Palm pre > HTC EVO 4g

Do you think the build has anything to do with it ... I have .3 and swype works as normal ... But some may have build .1 ... Also may depend on how the build was installed ... I dont know how most people installed thier FROYO but I did mine completely from my EVO in less than 15mins ... No Hiccups or Burps.

It took forever to get on the Swype Beta... I signed up for it in March and finally got the invitation in late June.... You can find copies if you search but some are trial versions and will stop working after a week or so (I had a trial version back in April that stopped working and gave me a message to download the full beta because my trial had expired)
I wish they would release it to the market... It's well worth a few bucks and I would gladly pay for it but they keep it in Beta for some reason.... It comes stock on some phones (I think the Galaxy S which is Android comes with Swype) and I know the HD2 came with Swype......
If you search hard enough you might be able to find some thing..... I had it before I "OFFICIALLY" had the beta.... I even e-mailed them several times willing to buy it but they just tell you to sign up for the beta.... - 08-01-2010, 03:41 PM #14
I had to reinstall Swype from the link in the e-mail they sent me. I don't know if it is a different version than what I originally had. Currently I have 1.56.30.7625.t100

Unfortunately the swype beta has ended. I wonder when they will release an official version?
If you had Swype on your phone before the beta ended you can still get a copy sent to you right away if you signed up for the original beta. I had to do a factory reset to get some things to work again and when I did swype was gone. I forgot my login they set me up with that and I signed in and requested a copy of swype one minute later it was sent to my phone. I can't help you with your Froyo issue because i'm waiting for the official release...I'm patient don't want to be a beta tester. I'll just sit back and let everyone else find the bugs, if any so hopefully htc can fix them and add missing features before releasing the final version. - 08-01-2010, 06:15 PM #16

Okay, I got swype beta to work with the froyo update. I had to run the swype tutorial which asked me to select the keyboard. Before running the tutorial, I am not getting swype selection when I click on the textbox.

Re: Sense Froyo and Swype
I have downloaded swype from my original email at least ten times due to me loading and playing with different roms. I have not had a problem downloading it yet. I love it and will not use anything else now.

I got it to work. I was trying to download the installer using the stock browser (flash goodness) but the swype page didn't recognize the browser and wouldn't let me download. Dolphin HD fixed that. Everything is better now. Thanks for all the input.
I do wish swype would format its text prediction more like the stock keyboard so that you can have predictive touch type too. But that is knit picking. - 08-02-2010, 01:00 AM #22
Finally got swype working!!! My problem was that I did not fully uninstall and install the app correctly. So this is what I did, and I hope this helps:
1.) menu > applications > manage apps
From there I uninstalled swype and the swype installer
2.) located my swype email with the link to their beta. Once I tapped on the link that swype provided I was directed to their page where the swype installer would download. Wait for the download and open the file.
For some reason it did not do this before, but I'm glad it did and from here I remember doing this when I first got swype.
3.) Once you open the installer swype will ask you to log in. log in
4.) after logging in, you will download the swype application and from here you are golden. Check off swype in the pop up window indicating that you want swype as an input method. After this, you can now re-swype with froyo!yEzZiR! - samsung n400 w/camera > Sanyo mm7400 > Sanyo VM4500> Samsung Instinks > Palm pre > HTC EVO 4g

You should be able to still use the link in your email they sent you to download the installer. I still had the installer on my phone so I uninstalled Swype and then used the installer to reinstall it.
