Going back to 2.1?

If u did the un-official update to 2.2 on Friday is there any way to go back to 2.1?

It actually did not. I tried it when I got horrible battery life. After the wipe, my battery life did improve but it is still worse than 2.1.

Yea the system wipe was actually the first thing I tried.

Perhaps check at xda to see if someone there has a vanilla 2.1 firmware image available. That's your only chance, methinks.

You have to remember that firmware on phones isn't like it used to be in the old days where it was burned to a ROM. Now, firmware flashes into NVRAM and becomes your phone's OS. A system wipe will only restore it to the factory version of whatever image you have in NVRAM. It's similar to an SD card in how it works in certain ways.

Personally, I'm sticking with the 2.2 I have until the official OTA either updates or overwrites what I currently have. If the OTA doesn't supersede what I have now, I'm sure an update later will "fix" whatever it is that HTC says needs fixing to get us back on course. Personally, the phone on 2.2 has been working great for me; I love the speed, and everything's just worked snappier.
