Battery Life After 2.2 Update
Just wanted to gauge how the rest of you were seeing your battery performance after making the 2.2 upgrade.
I pulled mine off the charger yesterday morning at about 7:00 am, and still have 30% left. This is with lots of Twitter, Facebook, 4Square and email. Light to moderate (at best) internet.
Anyone else having good experiences with battery life? - 08-01-2010, 07:48 AM #2

I wasn't asking for proof of being a flamer, merely a question to those not sitting on a high horse. Perhaps I should have noted that in the above.

It's about the same, but seems a little better. Either way, i'm happy with it.

Re: Battery Life After 2.2 Update
My battery seems to be about the same. I use my phone a lot during the day so considering that I'm ok with the battery life. But regarding the OP I haven't noticed any difference from the upgrade.

Re: Battery Life After 2.2 Update
16 hours and 48% later, it is the same as 2.1 for me. I always get over 25 hours.

Posted this in another thread but may as well throw it up here..
59% remaining, 16h 38m 2s since unplugged.
28% Cell Standby
28% Wi-Fi
26% Phone Idle
12% Android System
4% Display
2% Maps
Much better for me than before the update. - 08-01-2010, 09:44 AM #9
With moderate use I used to get about 1.5 hours for every 10% battery used. With 2.2 installed I am getting no where near that. It is closer to .5-.75 hour for 10% use. With out using the phone except for one text message, checking the time a few times and checking the radar twice my battery went from 100% at 6pm to 40% at midnight. That is horrible.

Mine seems to be mildly worse.... Not major.... After 16 hours 22 minutes I was at 20% remaining on what I consider regular use yesterday. On Average after 16 hours off the charger I was at around 40% remaining before I updated to 2.2. It's close enough it may have been just more use than usual..... I have not had bad battery life since I bought the phone... I averaged at least 12+ hours before the 6.28 update and after that it bumped up to 16+ so it's still easily usable all day and through the night... With the way the battery was yesterday I probably wouldn't be 100% comfortable for it to make it to 2 - 3 in the morning but from 8 in the morning until 10 - 11 at night is plenty....
See how it does on day 2 with 2.2 today.... - 08-01-2010, 10:44 AM #11
I don't use gtalk and and had it configured not to automatically sign-in and noticed that reverted after update. Some might want to check this as it could impact battery life.
Oh and Sprint Zone also reverts to its default update settings. - 08-01-2010, 11:05 AM #12
you guys are crazy complaining about your battery life. i am lucky if i get over 6 hours.
- 08-01-2010, 11:10 AM #13
after reading above post about talk, i went in and checked everything that can sync on the phone. . .. yep.. . it reverted back to stock invervals.
Gtalk signed in
Stocks syncing
Google weather/news syncing/News syncing
Sprint app syncing
. . . ect
Now I was getting 18 or so hours yesterday before %20 came on, but it was barely used. Few texts and web and tinkering. much lower then normal usage.
I checked my stats and Android had a ton of partial wake usage. - 08-01-2010, 11:11 AM #14

I'm with you on this. My battery life is pretty bad, always has been. I get between 6-9hrs, depending on use. I'm not sure if thats normal or not, becuase i would never use the words moderate or light to describe anything i do with the phone, except maybe phone call use. So i'm pretty sure i just use my phone more than most. What is your usage like?

It seems like my battery life is much worse since the update. (Much worse is subjective, but I would guess it seems to drain about 25% faster than it did before the update) Ive also noticed the phone seems to get much hotter, I can even feel it through the silicone case! The Heat concerns me more than the drain, Does anyone else notice their phone getting hot since the update?

mine has gotten really bad. I mean bad!!
got it off the charger at 8:22am took 4 pictures without flash, answered 4 text messages, sent 2 tweets and exit out of the twitter apps and I'm at 45% left - 08-01-2010, 12:34 PM #18
i do mostly text messaging and web browsing to a few of my favorite sites . occasionally i will use youtube and take a few pics. where i primarily use my phone i get full bars so i dont expect the battery to drain looking for a signal. i have followed all the steps for a better battery life but still cant get past 6 hrs. the only thing i havent done is turn off the setting where things automatically update and the only reason being is that it slows down my email but i dont get many of those , only from facebook. the rest of what i dont need is turned off.im looking in to getting an extended battery soon.

Mine is mildly worse as well. I need to go in and check a few settings, but with minimal use, I drop battery quickly.

i had really bad battery life with my 0002 build phone. I swapped it out for a 0003 and now I get 15-20 hours depending on use and signal. I work in a hospital and some areas are total dead zones and eat your battery life.

I have had the same or better battery life after the Froyo plunge.

While I haven't done the battery recalibration thing yet, my battery life has fallen back to first week levels of terrible. I've been running without task killers since a hard reset a couple of weeks ago and was easily getting 14-18 hours of nominal use before hitting sub-20% battery level; now it's there in about six hours and the warmth is pronounced through the Body Glove case. Very disappointing.

my battery life seems to be the same, 10+ hours. That's with texting, internet, photos, etc. So I am happy that the update did not compromise the battery.

I'm so sick and tired of all the worrries about battery life and turning this off and re calibrating this that and the other ... I bought 2 sets of the Ebay batteries ($20 delivered) which means i have 5 batts now ... I want to use the phone in all its full glory so I do ... I always have at least 3 batteries including the one in the phone ... If I am in my car I plug it in ... If i am at home I plug it in ... I can go at least a full 24hrs of HEAVY use with three batteries and Im talking a couple of full movies and all ... I don't mind ... I carry a satchel everywhere I go anyway ( I am mostly on my motorcycle ) ... No worries ... No worries ... No worries .
