    Default Playing FLV videos

Anyone know of an app that will play FLV files? I DL'd a few from YouTube and would like to watch 'em on my EVO. I've tried about a half dozen apps, including Rockplayer, and none of them will play FLV files.

    Thanks!

Downloading from YouTube is illegal (read the YouTube ToS). Can't help you.

Um, am I right in saying that a lot that is talked about it android central forums isn't exactly following all the ToS agreements we agree to? Regardless of where he got the videos, it would be cool to be able to play flvs. I'm interested to know too.

Actually, I got most of them from the originator's website, and they're all available there, so I'm not sure it much matters. I DL'd them so I could watch them without buffering problems. (No 4G in my area.)

The Evo for some reason saves flv files as a .txt file..Try renaming to .flv via Astro and rock player plays them.

We can't play FLV files. What you can do is convert them, using Realplayer SP on your PC.
(& you can download them using Realplayer too, shhhh)
Open Realplayer, click on File-->New-->New Web Browser
Go to ***Tube.com. Find the video you want. When the video is playing, hover the mouse on the upper right part of the video.
A box will open, click on "Download this video". Once it's downloaded, it gives the option to convert them.
(Windows Media Files is what you convert them into.) It will convert them, & place them in the same folder as the original flv file.
Then connect your Evo, open the folder you want to place them in, & drag the new file in.
You can also convert them into MP3s! Niceeeee!

If it was on YouTube as you said, then my post applies. If it wasn't on YouTube, why say you downloaded it from YouTube. And whether stuff slips through on here or not isn't much relevant. It's still not allowed.

doesn't rooting phones also void the ToS?

this is the internet, we're not sprint customer service.

OK, because this thread is WAAAY off track, how about this: I created my own videos in FLV format because my Samsung Epic 4G Touch was able to play them without conversion.

How do I play them on the EVO 4G LTE?

Can I download a codec package of some kind or do I need to convert them?

I also notice that the EVO 4G LTE doesn't do so well with MP4 files that played perfectly on the E4GT; again, is there a codec package or upgrade I can do so that I don't have to convert the files?
I can either be 'smart,' or I can be 'pretty.' Today, we're going with 'pretty.'

    1. Rockplayer application works for all of my videos, including .flv on my HTC Inspire. If Rockplayer doesn't work, try using your pc or laptop to convert the file to an .mp4. 2. Thank you for your input Vincent Law, but unless you can provide an answer that actually helps, please do no post a comment. 3. "Downloading from YouTube is illegal (read the YouTube ToS). Can't help you." did not help at all...

MX Video Player. Never went back. Literally supports hundreds of formats, some I never even heard of!

From HTC Vivid WCX using Android Forums.
