Default Completely naked Evo users, please read

Ok, this has probably been posted in other threads, but I wanted this one to be specifically for people who don't use a case or screen protector. How is your phone doing? I haven't used a screen protector in a while and luckily (knock on wood) my screen hasn't been scratched. I really want to go case-less as well as I love the feel of the thinness of the Evo, but I don't know if it's worth it. So, any thoughts? Thanks.

I have a launch day Evo with no case or screen protector. My screen has no scratches or knicks, one corner of the body has a couple of nicks from the one time I dropped it onto asphalt. I keep the phone in my front left pocket when carrying it, but never with any keys or change or anything other than my wallet really.

While I can't really comment too much on how sturdy it is when dropped, I don't have any "how the heck did that happen?!?!" marks on the screen.

I went naked on my EVO about 6 weeks after launch (on launch I had screen protector and full body zagg shield)

and I have no scratches on my EVO.... The only real signs of wear (Being out of a case and never used a case) is the edges/corners of the phone are showing some light wear from going in and out of my pockets all day.... I also rest it in the cup holder in my car a lot and no problems at all.....

But I honestly have never liked or enjoyed a case on a phone.... These companies spend a ton of time to design the phone to feel and look great right out the box and we bulk them up with cases.... It's an every day item so yeah it's going to get dinged up here and there... Just like when you buy a brand new car.... That is basically as good as it's ever going to look unless you bubble wrap it and store it up some where.....

Plus how long do you REALLY expect to keep the phone? 1 year? 2 years tops?

I've been naked for a few months and I got 0 scratches, although a little nick on the outer shell from a button on a pair of affliction jeans (i got pissed).

I treat mine like an infant baby though, so results may vary.
Some say the glass is half empty. Some say its half full. I say, "Are you going to drink that?"

lol.... treat it like an infant baby....

I am NOT that easy on mine... I do have a habit of sliding it across a table or throwing it on the bed/couch/end table and then I rush over to make sure I didn't just ding it up.... (and I don't have insurance on it either)

Have only "Dropped" it maybe 4 times... Once face down on my driveway and I was scared to flip it over (it was in my lap as I got out of my car) and I can't honestly say it's freaking near mint.... It has some signs of wear on the corners (with a hint of red peaking through) but over all it's great.. Durable phone...

    IMO -

    1. screen protector is NOT necessary.

    2. case is necessary.

I have never used any covers or skins on my EVO I had the original screen replaced dew to dust under the screen about 6 weeks ago. No scratches on either screen. I have a couple of light body scratches but nothing major. I will never cover this phone up.

I'm a Palm Pre transplant and totally DIG the way the EVO looks naked. I'm sure accidents will happen but untill then I'll enjoy how groovy it looks sans cover ups.

Mine has 2 scratches, don't know HOW but one is in the middle right part of screen and the other is very small in the left bottom corner. Luckily they don't interfere anything and you can't see them unless you look for them. Thankfully after I had a talk with Sprint about my bad hardware, they are sending me out a replacement.

No scratches at all and I bought mine on release day. Phone looks best naked imo. Bought a case and I never use it...unless I plan on drinking and don't trust myself.

I have a release day EVO. Been caseless since release day and screen protector-less for about 4 weeks. No scratches. I also keep it in my front left pocket alone.

I did notice some dust under the screen on the top left. Not sure where it came from though.

Almost naked. I have a couple pieces of velcro on the back. Use for navigation, charge, and watching videos. Safe place to charge. I can't tell you how many phones ruined my morning coffee. Or how many times I got out the car with my phone in my lap.

No scratches on my EVO which I've carried naked in my front pants pocket since I bought it a week after release day. Screen in particular is immaculate.

Carried mine naked since July ... and have some dinged up corners to show for it. More importantly, I have a deep scratch (almost a gouge) running from the bottom to about midway up the screen. No idea where it came from; my best guess it I caught the screen on a rivet in my jeans pocket while taking it out once.

Don't think the glass is indestructible, folks; it ain't.

Ha, same with me. Evo is naked all day every day unless I go drinking or go to sporting events. Otter box case for drinking nights. No screen protector and no scratches on mine either. Bought it on release day.

First. I love this phone, second I abuse it, had it since launch day never a screen protector had the body glove case for a week, I'm a mechanic and it sits on my toolbox all day I pick it up with dirty hands and at the end of the day I spray glass cleaner on a towel and clean the screen. Still no scratches screen is perfect you would not know what this thing goes through if you saw it. The only issues I've had were encurred by me, rooting flashing roms ect.

although I do keep the phone in a leather belt clip pouch on my waist.

my phone is in mint condition, no scratches, nicks, nothing...

I bought a $3 rubber case on eBay that came with a free screen protector. I like the rubber (gel) case as it keeps the phone from sliding around in my car when I place it on my center console. The cheapo screen protector doesn't look all that great but it has to protect the screen. I am a practical type person and my phone is perfect after 4 months for a cost of $3.

I understand not wanting to use a case all of the time. The phone is big enough as it is.

But what is the hate towards a screen protector? I have a zagg invishield and after the few days the fresh sticky texture wears off and you don't even notice it... seems like a small price to pay to protect a $500 device...

I also use a case on occasion when I know I'm going to be outside and moving around a lot.

because it's not necessary and it obstructs the beauty and the view of the display.

i know it makes you feel better but that's all it does.

You guys are putting a lot of faith in that one scratch test...

Also I don't notice a difference in the display other than the fact that there is a little less glare, which works for me.
I'm not here to tell anyone what is right and wrong.. just curious. That one video isn't enough evidence to make feel comfortable going without a protector.
