Is having 4.3" of screen real estate worth the extra bulk?
I am always hearing "yeah that EVO is a cool phone but it is way too big"!
After having my EVO for over a month now, I can truly say I love the size. In fact, I dont think I will own a phone smaller than 4.3" moving forward.
As EVO owners does the size of the phone bother you in terms of pocketability? - 11-16-2010, 05:31 PM #2

Love the 4.3! The bulk on the x is not from the screen, but more from the camera and chin containing the hardware buttons

I prefer the 4.3 screen, simply because (a) I'm old and my eyes are started to reflect that, and (b) I watch quite a bit of video when the kids monopolize the TV.

When ever I use my girlfriends iphone I feel like I'm playing with a toy! 4.3" is the way to go!

Before having the Evo and Epic I thought they were "too big" for a cell phone. Now I think they are the perfect size. I played with my old iphone the other day.
First thing I thought was that it was "too small". - 11-16-2010, 06:24 PM #10
It's honestly the perfect size. I had a Hero before the EVO, and at first the screen seemed large... but I QUICKLY adjusted to it. And now, I seriously can't see myself with a smaller screen for my next phone. I occasionally played with my friends' iPhones and that screen seems tiny to me
Left Android for the Darkside...
Yes. I'm a proud owner of an iPhone 4S. Please don't hurt me

there is no extra bulk. it's an illusion. the EVO is not that much bigger than an iPhone or Incredible - it just looks that way because it's ALL DISPLAY WITH VERY LITTLE BEZEL. the phone is not that much bigger yet the DISPLAY is so much more bigger and awesome. and easily pocketable regardless.
i'll take the EVO every time! - 11-16-2010, 07:43 PM #12
The phone is large, but anyone that's handled one would say it's anything but "bulky."
In fact, back in June when people that knew about the Evo would ask to check out mine, the first thing they would say was, "Oh. It's not that big."
And I agree with Gekko, they just made more efficient use of the space on the front of the phone instead of making it 30% bezel or button bar. - 11-16-2010, 07:48 PM #13
It grew on me. Can't say I can use anything significantly smaller.

I thought the Evo was big when I first bought one, but it didn't seem so big to me after a couple of days. I liked the size. But I am not one of those wh says that they would not go to a device that is smaller from now forward. I have a Droid 2 and see the benifits of this size as well. The phone is more pocketable and typing in landscape mode is easier. Its what you like and what feels comfortable to you. But I can say this, most people will grow into a phone size.

I'm on an X with that size screen and it felt completely natural after day one. The phone really isn't all that much larger than anything else though. I sold my Droid after it sat for a few months to a buddy and helped him set it up. That screen seemed miserably small in comparison now. 4" would be the smallest I'd go, and even that is starting to border on small-ish.
Witty euphemism, clever pun. - 11-16-2010, 08:02 PM #16
I remember when I was in Best Buy looking at the phone.... I thought it was to big. but after buying and carrying it around I could never go back to a smaller screen. You get really spoiled with a 4.3". I hate using my wife's blackberry.

it's kind of like choosing an LCD TV. say you're torn between a 46" and 52" and then decide to take a chance and get the 52". after a while the 52" looks normal and you tell yourself - i could have even gone bigger! nobody ever regrets going bigger - only smaller!

Once you go 4.3", you'll never go back!

4.3 is spot on for me my wife has my old Hero when she is having issues I have to spend time fixing things on that phone. The screen size on the Hero is just to small for me to be comfortable even just for a little while. I cant see me using a smaller screen.

As long as Sprint has a high end 4.3 screen phone with NO KEYBOARD, I will have that phone or leave Sprint.
