problem deleting text messaging threads...

current situation: htc evo stock, no root no nothing....

current problem: cannot delete message threads with 100+ messages, it just freezes and force closes but does not delete the threads.....its slowing the hell out of my phone

any suggestions or fixes?

Are you using the stock HTC messaging app? I've deleted threads with about 250 messages without issue.

yes i am....tried handcent but i dont like the double notifications....i dont know whats the issue and currently theres one thread with 3000+

That could be part of the issue if the thread is that large. I suggest using the auto-delete function to keep them under 300.

had this problem before that thread got started....had the same problem when i had the incredible

First thing you can try is go to settings>applications>manage applications>all>messaging>clear data and cache. Then try to delete ur messages.

To prevent double notifications... go to stock message app, menu>settings>notifications and disable the notifications for the stock app.

Don't forget to set ur limits for messages in the app settings. You can setup auto delete and what not

I have been able to delete threads that have had just over 1000 messages. You just have to be very patient. What i did was selected a thread to delete right before i went to bed, selected delete then hit the power button and went to bed. I woke up a few hours later and found it deleted.
