should I keep the EVO?
Hello first must say Awesome site.... I bought a HTC EVO last week when my year came up at Sprint. I love the phone , but should I have looked at the Epic a little closer? I know the EVO runs 2.2 Froyo and the Epic is still stuck with 2.1.. Side by side, how do they stack up? Is the Hummingbrid really that much better over the Snapdragon? Sorry for all the questions..
Thanks....

Your asking the wrong forum. Of course we'll say keep it. Well... I'm gunna tell you to send it to me. PM me for my address. lol
It's up to you man. You have 30 days to return it. If you feel like you got your fill and experienced everything on the EVO in the past week. Take it back and try out the Epic. Then if you don't like the Epic, exchange it again... 30 day test drive is great... Just make sure they'll let you do that at the store.
And if they are like... "well you know... blah blah" Tell them it's YOUR MONEY and you want to see which one you like better! - 12-11-2010, 09:06 PM #3
My wife has the Epic and I have the Evo. The Gps/navigation is not good on the Epic compared to the Evo. The Epic also feels very plastic like compared to the build of the Evo. She does like her phone but after a year with the Pre and then 7 months with the Evo I'm sold on no moving parts on a phone.

Maybe you should consider the Evo shift 4G coming out in early january. It's HTC Keyboard and next gen snapdragon (which beats the hummingbird) + 4G completely kill the Epic IMO.
Epic does have a awesome screen though. Some say the glass is half empty. Some say its half full. I say, "Are you going to drink that?" - 12-11-2010, 09:32 PM #5

i thought that the shift had the same generation snapdragon as the evo???

^no it' supposed to have next generation snap dragon. The shift is still being worked on. They have almost a month before release and they can push it back if they want. I don't think HTC would build a sub-par phone. We'll just wait and see. It would be awesome if it was the same size as our Evo with a slide out... Anyhow, I have higher expectations for the phone, hopefully I wont be disappointed

I have the evo and my wife has the epic, I prefer my evo

I say skip the Epic. If you're gonna get a slider get the Evo Shift. It'll be a much better phone. Personally I wouldn't even consider the Shift. I hate sliders and I refuse to get a phone with a smaller screen than the Evo's 4.3.. im spoiled lol

Honestly.. Probably not, but the tegras won't be that much better. Besides these new snapdragons can be overclocked to 1.8ghz stable dont forget.
Tegras won't make it into any phones I'd touch until late 2011, LG is a no go for me and htc is bound to qualcomm as it is.Some say the glass is half empty. Some say its half full. I say, "Are you going to drink that?" - 12-12-2010, 12:45 PM #18

I'm going to be bias towards the Evo side. I would suggest keeping the evo. Both processors are awesome. The evo is just better in my opinion.

If that LG Star is any indication of how the Tegra 2's are gonna be, it's gonna blow everything out of the water. With that said, I still think the new generation of Snapdragons are amazing. I do hope that htc decides to go dual core.
