    Default Yahoo mail Evo 4g

Since the 2.3 update, my yahoo mail is not receiving any emails.
Sending email works fine. The receiving part is a mystery that I can't solved.

    Thanks in Advance!

This is a common issue I'm seeing on other forums. I think Yahoo will have to fix on their end.

I'm having same problems. Called Sprint and they are telling me it is an issue on the Yahoo side. No estimate to have it resolved, but being a Server guy, it can't be a hardware problem, this has been going too long for that. It either has to be a major software problem or they have changed their stance on mobile connectivity. Has anyone heard if this is just EVO's that are having the problem or have you seen it from other devices?

Same problem here with the HTC mail app not downloading any mail.
I downloaded the K9 mail app and it works but I prefer the HTC one.
How does K9 work using imap but HTC does not?

    The Yahoo Mail app stinks!

I'm going to start an argument over flavors of apples, but Exchange Active Sync is a form of IMAP. It works the same way without being called IMAP.

The yahoo email (stock email, assigned a yahoo acct.) Is working perfectly on my husbands EVO 3D, and also on my sons Epic. So far it's only my EVO having this problem @ my house.

I'm not seeing how your post is relevant.
I fail to mention Exchange ActiveSync in my post at all.
I do question why the K9 email app can download my Yahoo mail using the imap settings while the HTC app cannot.

I talked with a Sprint customer service manager tonight. She stated that it is a problem with the last update and they are aware. She suggested that I clear the data in manage applications (mail). I can't do this because I deleted my account and reinstalled it already. Anyways, she said that they are working toward a solution. Bla bla bla....

My Yahoo mail using the stock app also stopped working. But via the Yahoo itself app from the market it works fine. I don't like that app, but it is better than not having access to my yahoo mail at all.

My post is relevant because you claim (and you're wrong) that the HTC email app can't do IMAP. Exchange Active Sync is a part of the HTC email app, and works identical to IMAP.

I do not think it is a "Yahoo" problem.... it is an "EVO" problem.
Neither my Yahoo OR my Comcast (Xfinity) mail have worked since 6/20/11on my stock EVO mail app.
    I hope they fix this!!??

I will NEVER... EVER... pay $19.99 for yahoo!!
Furthermore when I visit Yahoo with my browser on my EVO and try to access my mail they FORCE you to use their "mobile version" app which is worthless... slow... cumbersome and very annoying.
I am ready to bail on Yahoo for that very control factor.

I'd look at all your settings as my Evo does my Comcast email using the HTC email app flawlessly. Yahoo has been an issue for a while off and on, and now on again.

My intent was not to claim that the HTC email app can't do IMAP.
My point is that the HTC email app is not getting Yahoo mail using imap.mail.yahoo.com, which is the point of this thread.
The K9 email app is getting my email using imap.mail.yahoo.com.
The K9 app works for Yahoo, the HTC one does not - therefore my confusion over the situation.
I hope this is clearer now.

I switched ROMS and suddenly I can't get my yahoo mail to work either...

Can someone who has a functioning account check the server addresses and post them?

    I've seen suggestions for:
    imap.mail.yahoo.com
    android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
    htc.imap.mail.yahoo.com

This is from a working Yahoo! Mail account on my rooted evo using the stock gingerbread rom.

I have it set to every hour and it works fine.

Edit: using stock HTC mail app

This smells like greed.... if Yahoo is forcing you to use their market app to get your mail when you are mobile... They want more revenue for each time you visit...forcing you to their site (The more hits they get on their site the more $$ they get for advertising)
It is not enough that we check our mail on our home PC....
It could backfire on them like it did on AOL when they got greedy and lost out big time to Ebay.

You see, before Ebay there was AOL bulletin boards for buying and selling merchandise. They had the market cornered and it was hugely popular... then they got greedy... The AOL bulletin boards used to be free (with your paid monthly online charges) Then they stated charging $ to place ads on the bulletin boards ON TOP of the monthly fee you paid for your online service!
That is when Ebay started up! and all the sellers vacated AOL for Ebay... because of greed. AOL could have enhanced their bulletin boards to auction style and retained all the buyers & sellers that Ebay got!

Yes Yahoo mail is free BUT they have to supply a product that is easy to use to retain their users (Advertising revenue)
If they Jerk us around and Force us to use their inferior, frustrating mobile app then people are going to start looking elsewhere & bailing on them... just like the exodus from AOL to Ebay.
Remember the internet was once FREE! It was called SHARING! (Shareware) People created programs to share them with others... for FREE! Now their is greed... and they lull you in to their free service and FORCE you to THEIR WAY! for PROFIT!
I am getting tired of it! How do we get back to apps by the people for the people?
WATCH IT YAHOO!! And Comcast! Do not get greedy!

Hmmm interesting that I posted a link on Sprint community yesterday touching on this subject and it has been deleted? No access?
Try it does it work for you?
Google this: "but my EVO will not sync with Yahoo or Comcast (Xfinity) Mail!"
under Sprint community and see if you can access it?
    I smell greed!

Here was the reply I got from Ray?

    raylitherland67 created the discussion

Historically, if not subscribed to Yahoo! Mail Plus, you may experience an intermittent block when accessing your Yahoo! mail via integrated email clients on all Android devices and software versions. These intermittent issues appear to be due to configuration on the Yahoo! servers.
If you are experiencing problems accessing Yahoo! mail, you may need to download the Yahoo! Mail application from the Android market to continue using Yahoo! email services on their device. At this time it appears this is a limitation of the Yahoo! Service.
I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but it seems like it may be the only option at this time. I am so sorry.
There is actually a application from the market for your xfinity comcast email that you may want to try out as well.

Another gripe about Yahoo mail is that I used to be able to access their "classic" site from my EVO.
Now again, they FORCE you to their inferior mobile app? If I take the "M" out of my browser it still forces you back to the mobile app once you click on the Inbox.
Anyone have a guess why? I do not know the answer yet... but I smell greed there as well.
Is there another mail provider besides Comcast and yahoo that I can switch to and use the stock email app on my EVO?

It sounds like this all about Yahoo getting you to go to their mobile site for their advertising $$
I think I will be bailing on Yahoo soon.. unless somebody finds a fix and I am jumping to conclusions. I hope I am wrong, but "free" services are getting greedy & now starting to be to be a pain in the a** to use.
I hope somebody teaches them a lesson on greed and a less restrictive company in the spirit of "freeware" email starts up. Comcast Xfinity I am going to have a REAL beef with because I pay them money for my home internet & cable TV! and it looks like they have an email "app" now so they can double dip me!
