Hello jonny5449. This phone really packs a punch, I personally think it is a really great phone especially if you root it and put a custom rom on it.

I came from the opti s, too. Not quite as many ROMS as the Opti, but they are good. CM9 isnt working 100% on the shift either

ROMs are limited on the EVO Shift but it's a solid phone.

I just followed a root process on YouTube and it wasn't too bad. Alot of copying and pasting.
