have I lost Wimax forever?

This is my first android phone, I rooted and flashed Kernel] [GPL] Sense 2.6.32.21 OC/UV 1.51GHZ (CFS-Smartass-TUN) - xda-developers
using ROM manager, prior to the update the other day. When it was doing the backup it said that Wimax failed to backup, does this mean that it is lost forever? Or was the suggestion to backup the Wimax keys a suggestion, or was it mandatory? I don't have a way to test if 4G works as I am in a town of 150,000 people in North Dakota, so I doubt we will ever even get Wimax here anyway.

Mine still works after flashing that Kernel, but I haven't tried restoring back to stock. If it comes to it, you can always RUU back to stock and then re root.

There is an app in the market called wimax rsa key checker that will tell you if you lost wimax or not.
