    Cm7 RC1/2.6.32

Default [ROM Alert] Cyanogen Mod 7 Nightly updates are now available

Sorry for earlier post rom I had was cm6 not cm7 but I just found cm7 for evo shift here:

It's an irc channel just enter a nickname and do the captcha. In the upper right hand corner it says want cm7 click the link next to it

    Steps I took to install:

    1. Made Nand backup
    2. Wiped User Data
    3. Wiped Cache
    3. Formatted System
    4. Wiped Dalvik
    5. Installed Rom
    6. Installed Gapps (Google Apps) Found Here:
    7. Rebooted Phone

    Here are Screenshots:

Wifi Hot spot works without plan. So far this rom is running really smooth. Starts in 31 seconds, 4g works (WIMAX), and as you can see from the screen shots very minimal running services. I hope this helps your quest for cm7 on evo shift.

Link to XDA and the nightly updates

Thanks for the heads up on this OP it works great. I have been running this ROM all day I have tested just about everything at least everything I use daily with no issues. Bluetooth works GPS works WIMAX works this ROM is OC'ed to 1.5 mhz it is fast and smooth. I am getting 1500's in Quadrant without even trying meaning that is with everything on.If you like you some CM and Gingerbread jump on this ROM I am glad I did.

Watch out for programs that are not compatible with Gingerbread I installed a 4G toggle widget and it killed my 4G and GPS I had to remove it and then reset my Shift to get them back. If something stops working backtrack till you find the problem lots of programs are not yet comparable with Gingerbread. This is not a CM7 issue the program developers just simply have not made the necessary changes yet.

Stayed up late last night flashing and restoring backups. So far I'm pretty thrilled. I get a 2162 on Quadrant. I am able to get 4g and my bluetooth paired with my car just fine.

    Bugs I've noticed so far
    1. Headphones don't work. (Saw a post somewhere that said this is a known issue)
    2. 3g signal strength seems off. Standing next to my air rave I have 1 bar of signal. I'm not sure how this ROM translates DB into bars of signal, nor have I tried making/receiving calls, but the displayed signal seems off.
    3. LED Torch app doesn't work.

My battery life also doesn't seem as good. Going into battery usage I see:

    7h 35 min on battery - 36% left
    Cell Standby 26%
    Bluetooth 26%
    Phone Idle 20%
    Wi-Fi 12%
    Display 9%
Maps 4% (haven't even opened it today)
    Words with Friends 2%
    Speed Test 2%

just downloaded this and love it, am going to play with it today to see how it goes, but I did notice one thing, I wasn't able to restore my apps using titatieum backup. It went through the process, but when I went into my app draw, none of my apps showed up. I had to do it manually through the market...

Able to get Mms working with GoSms:

1: Download GoSms from the market
    2: Open GoSms
3: Go into menu then into settings, scroll to mms related.
4: Check the box that says Fill apn configuration manually
    5: Under MMSC enter
6: Under MMS PORT enter 80
7: You can test by sending a Mms message to yourself

I've noticed that the bars that display signal are totally out of whack. My 3g speeds seem a bit slow, but I don't have much proof of that. I seem to get decent reception based on the actual dBm (around -78 dBm at work) I see in the about phone screen. But when I'm at home next to my air rave, where i should have near perfect signal, I have marginal (-89 dBm) signal. From my understanding -70 dBm is perfect.

So I agree, there are some reception issues with this mod.

The 3g is signal for me was weak. When first installing I was only getting 92-95dbm. I was able to boost the signal by 1st making a nand backup of cm7 and settings then I restored a stock rooted rom that I have stored. After the stock rooted rom is loaded I started the the phone this time its booting up into the stock rooted rom after loaded no need to sign into google. Go into settings its either system updates or software updates then update profile and update prl. After that turn off phone for about a minute then boot into recovery restore the nand backup of cm7 just made. After doing this my signal is greatly improved I'm now getting 75-78 dbm. I'm not saying this will work for everyone but for me it. I hope it helps

I think you have things backwards. From my understanding a "perfect" signal on a cell phone is around -70 dBm. Lower the number, the worse the signal. For example, -95 is much worse then -80.

Please correct me if I'm wrong oh wireless gods.

No worries, signal strength number make my head hurt.

I'm trying out the MikShift ROM and my signal seems more in line with what I expect, however the About Phone screen doesn't show the dB. Is there any place else to get this info, maybe a market app?

On the cm7 I believe it only shows 4 bars compared to the usual 6 so visually it may look like you signal is less when its actually probably the same as your used too.

That is why I started using the dBm as a gauge. It's built into the About Phone menu in CM7. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get the dBm in the stock ROM for comparison.

Download signal bar status from the market.
