My plan on fixing my cracked screen will it work?

Okay I dropped my evo shift and cracked my screen about A MONTH AGO. And was thinking if I got the

Total Equipment Protection (TEP), comprehensive protection solution TODAY

And if i returned my evo shift unrooted would they accept phone?

Would my plan work?
Has anyone done this before?

TEP can only be added to new phone activation or upgrade within 30 days of purchase. I think your only option may be to shell out the cash to fix it or buy a new phone.
