    Default Tethering

Trying to help my wife USB tether her Shift 4G to her laptop (Win7). We're running into a request for a network security key. I've googled around and see two ways to deal with this - use PDANet, or download a driver to the laptop.

According to Marketplace, her phone isn't compatible with PDANet, and I can't find a driver for her phone at all, on HTC's site or otherwise.

We're hitting the road tomorrow and I'm running short on time. I hate to be newbish, but it would be awesome if someone could point me in the right direction.

Pdanet should work fine for Shift. AFAIK Pdanet should install the drivers for you. If not, download HTC sync, it will install the proper drivers for the Shift.

And of course, she figures it out immediately after I broadcast my very public plea for help.

If anybody else runs into this, she entered 1234567890 as the network key, and it's working great. Pardon me while I slink away in shame.
