I just wanna temp root

I had Visionary on my Shift just so that I could do WiFi tethering whenever I needed it. Now that the GB update came out, it don't work no mo'. I'm too worried to perm root it and brick it (didn't have to worry about that on my Nook Color), but are there any ways to tether it now without rooting it?

I just downloaded GB when I saw the above post. I haven't installed it because it said battery needs charged first, but before I do, are you sure my pdanet will still work after installed? If not, I'll delete the download, pdanet is a definite 5 star and would hate to loose it. A buddy of mine has Verizon and upgraded to their HTC Evo counterpart and said Verizon has blocked pdanet from his phone.

I don't use it cause I'm rooted but To my knowledge it still works.. I haven't heard of Sprint blocking any apps. Even if the app has been blocked from the market, which I highly doubt, it can be downloaded from outside sources.

If your still running Froyo, I definitely preferred visionary.
