video chats?
Hey guys,
Quick question and it's probably been answered. What's the best video chat app to use on this tablet? Wife and me just picked this up and were test driving for the 14 days BB is giving us to use. I am personally gonna get EVO tab when available, and this is the one she preferred right now. Any thoughts or help is appreciated. - 05-29-2011, 08:20 PM #2
Try using Tango (works cross platform as well).

I was hoping that Skype or Qik would come out for the Flyer. Would be nice to at least get google video chat running on it. Of course I am notgong to hold my breath for Skype to launch video chat. I know Thunderbolt users are still waiting for an official version andthat was originally advertised for launch with that phone.

Yeah I tango installed, but am unsure how to get this thing running, as its asking for a number and Iam only using this thing for WiFi. Any way of bypassing this?

With the way Tango is currently constructed, it is recommended for you to register with different information for each device you have Tango installed. Please register your HTC Flyer with a secondary phone number (such as a google voice or home phone number) and secondary email address. That specific email will be used for your friends to Tango with you on your Flyer while your other information will be used for your phone.
By doing this, Tango will know which device to call without any complications.
Hope this helps! - 06-01-2011, 09:29 AM #7

Tango is not working. Will not allow setup as I do not have any other cell or number to use. Any other suggestions??? This does factor into me keeping this little tablet... I also would love to not have to get another number to do any video chats. Thanks guys

Re: video chats?
I got Skype video to work on my HTC Flyer. But I find that if the wi-fi connection is anything weak or less, it will not work. Basically you need a moderate to strong Wi-Fi connection on both end for Skype video to work...at least on my Flyer. I could be wrong on the reasoning, but I find that when I and the person that I'm calling have a strong connection, my Skype video works, but when either of us has a weak connection, it won't work. - 07-18-2011, 07:21 PM #22
Re: video chats?
I use "VTok" on my Flyer every weekend for webcam time with my daughter. She lives with her mom in Chicago, and I live in CA. Works great! Uses your GTalk acct contacts. Only downside is the auto login after attempting to close. Just takes a quick restart to stop that, though. Absolutely worth the FREE.99 I paid for it...lol

Installed from here on my EVO view. Evo 4g forum
Tested it and works pretty well EVO view to laptop over WiFi (great) and 3g (not bad)
Haven't tried tablet to phone yet. - 07-26-2011, 08:00 PM #24
