i have a buddy with a mac and htc hero. its still on 1.5 so im looking for just a update.zip you put on the sd card and load stock recovery and install. is that out there for this phone?

I don't think there is an update.zip for the Hero to load the stock recovery. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Is he rooted and wants to unroot?

he just has 1.5 and didnt know about the update. not rooted or anything and doesnt want to go to the store but only has a mac so he cant update himself.

If he goes into the phones menu, there should be an option to update software over the air. Check that first, it should get him to the latest update, which is 2.1-update 1.

Make sure he gives it plenty of time to update and have a full battery (I'd suggest plugging it in while it updates).

the hero didnt have an ota, it was just in store or htc sync.

Woops, I though there was an OTA for the 2.1 update. They must have only done it for the minor software fixes

Sorry about that. There is no update.zip for 2.1 that I'm aware of.
