Rooting problem htc hero

I rooted my hero for my daughter about 3months ago with no problems. Now I gave my daughter my per and I have the hero. I her to unroot the phone to activate it. I have the heroroot010.apk installed on my sd card. When i run the apk it installs the app on the phone. I get to the reboot message and hitok and nothing happens. The phone does not reboot. I tried a manual reboot but nothing happens there either. Please someone help . This phone runs so slow without custom roms

You do not need to unroot to activate. Just flash a Sense rom and call to activate.

thanks for that info for if i ever get rooted again. Does anyone know what i did wrong?

I was able to root with z4root. I still dont know what i did wring with heroroot010.

There were patches Google issued that closed a few loop holes to enable root access. I'm not sure if this affected the stock 2.1 ROM, but a few one-click apps are no longer working.

Good to here Z4 Root worked just fine.
