You have root since your running my rom ,but if you run the offc.2.1RUU there is no way to root then.

And root IS nice - but what about the bootloader? Does this RUU also replace the recovery image? I really like having the nandroid backup/restore functionality.

I can't even get it to download. Server is really being bogged down right now. I am sure thousands a trying to download. I just had it time out on me.

Personally I am not going to install this but I want the file download. Eventually Root will be done and then I can begin to play with the rom.

The ruu remove all that.no nadroid.No recovery.No a2sd.No super user.

Wait til tom. if you don't want it right away and then that way itll dl faster. Yeah tranffer rate is like 2kb

Ok, so help me get this straight(I'm an active webOS user, root & everything). My wife has an HTC hero(stock), if I update her phone, I should make sure all photos are backed up on her memory card, contacts with google correctly and what about apps? Are apps backed up with phone or tied with the android market and will all be back on phone like webOS?

I really appreciate the help......Thanks in advance!!!

Yes save pics to sdcard,contacts will be backup if they are saved as google contacts,apps will be deleted if you have paid ones they should be under downloads in market.You can use astro to back up apps.

You can take it to a Sprint store....
But i can almost guarantee you will be disappointed with this. Battery life is crap.

Try using a friends or family cp if you can,or you could root and run custom rom.

You could always download the one that says for the dev's in the hacks section, it appears to be the same file... I would't install it on mine, though (even from HTC).

The first time you setup your phone, if you run to settings, get a wifi connection, then go to market--> downloads, all your apps will be there (although some of mine were missing when i installed a ROM based off of this one last night) and you can download them. Do not backout of the app or they disappear.
