Default My HTC Hero is peeling.

The bottom part of my HTC Hero (the back "key") is peeling! Any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm sure within a month or so that entire surface will be gone if I don't do something.

It's the gray "film" where the Menu keys are. Looks more like foil and it's peeling.

I'd take it to sprint & tell em to exchange it. Never heard of this problem before.

I would have to agree, take it to Sprint and get it replaced. I haven't heard of this anywhere yet and it seems like a defect unless you happen to carry it around with a pocket full of sandpaper but ill give you the benefit of the doubt on that one.

before you take it back TAKE A PIC and post it here!!!!!!!!!!! Don't let this go undocumented! If you just silently return the phone then Sprint/HTC will treat each person as an isolated incident. Take pix and document the situation so its undeniable.

My end call/power button is peeling. The red phone is beginning to look like a fat red mushroom.

My end button peeled off too... it also is shaped like a little red mushroom. It annoyed me a lot at first, but now I learned to live with it.

Now my end button is starting to resemble a Klingon Bird of Prey. I'm not sure if this is worth taking it back to Sprint for exchange. Would this be covered by the TEP? I could just scrape off the rest of the covering and have a solid red end button. That might actually look cool.

My power key was peeling as well, instead of the 'hang up'/'power cycle' it was turning in to a red button. All the gray foil was feeling off. Took it to Best Buy (where I bought) and they replaced it with no questions asked. Of course I had other problems with it, dust under the screen, battery wouldn't hold a charge, etc.

I too will freak out if it peels, I am such a type A personality when it comes to my devices. LOL Mine was made on Oct. 26th, 2009 and so far so good. Just a little "static" in the earpiece every now and then.

Now the "Home" button is peeling too. I better make sure to memorize the locations of these buttons, they are peeling fast! I have had cell phones since like 2000 and this if the fastest I've seen buttons peeling. Sucks.

I wonder if there is some common hand soap, lotion or possible cleaner that people use prior to touching the device. Some cleaners will peel "foil" / paint off surfaces fairly easily, especially "oily" solvents like "orange glo" cleaner or "goo Be Gone".... ummm this really has me puzzled though. If feel bad for you guys who have this... it'd drive me nuts for sure. I would have to go with whole just peel off the entire piece and make it a solid red button.... it'd look better than the "mushroom", lol

I don't use any of those cleaners you mentioned. Just regular soap, hand soap and dish washer liquid. I have yet to take it in to a Sprint store but I'm guessing they won't do anything about it. Funny you mentioned about just peeling the entire thing. That is pretty much the conclusion I arrived to once the peeling gets out of hand.
