    Default Multi-tasking question

    Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a Sprint Hero and have a multi-tasking question. With my Pre, I'm able to listen to internet music or podcasts loaded on the phone and use my telenav GPS. I can also use the phone and still view the GPS guiding me to my destination. Could I do the same thing with the Hero? How easy is it to go from one open running program to another? Does multi-tasking bog down the Hero to the point where it's unusable?

    Thanks,

    GP

    Hi there,

you can use multiple apps concurrently - although only one on the screen at one time.

The slight drawback is that there is no built in task list that you can bring up to show you what is running to switch to it, but it is still there and you can bring it back using the application icon.

I've not noticed running multiple apps to slow the phone down too much. Android is quite good at managing this so it automatically closes things that it doesn't think will be needed.

Something else to keep in mind, the more you have running in the background the faster battery life will drain.

There are apps in the Android Market that will allow you to easily switch between apps and to kill running apps. Must of them are free.

Got the Sprint Hero today and I'm able to listen to music and use the Telenav program with no problems. I'll drive with it tomorrow and share my experience.

    Thanks folks,
