HELP! Installed Handcent. Still at 100%
Recently, I bought a Sprint HTC Hero. I've read these forums and I know that the default messaging app has a bad tendency to lock the system awake. So I:
- Disabled the notifications in the default messaging app
- Installed Handcent SMS
- Disabled the Popup in handcent
- Rebooted and stopped using the default messaging app
But I'm still seeing 100% awake. Are there other things that this newbie hasn't yet found that can lock the system into awake mode?
I'm finding that my phone is running out of charge at 3pm. Granted that this is under somewhat heavy usage considering that I've just got a new toy. But I think it's also (in large part) a result of 100% awake time, and I'd like to see if I can get that down to much more reasonable levels.

I've noticed that the vizBattery widget doesn't allow the phone to sleep.
I did a hard reset and slowly added apps and widgets to see what caused what and when the vizBattery widget was on a homescreen, it caused the battery to never sleep.
This is getting to be a problem if we're going to have to check each and every app to see what it does to the sleep system.

I've noticed that, despite the fact that I never use it, the Messages app seems to start up entirely on it's own. How do I keep it from starting up? I'm using TasKiller to see if it's starting up, and then using that to kill it. Also use TasKiller to kill itself after I'm done killing messages. (Referring, of course, to the thread suggesting that task killers are also part of the problem.)
In any case my question is this: Is it possible to keep Messages from starting?

I feel like I'm necroposting here but I'm having this problem. I've got Handcent and my up time is still at 100%. The only apps I have downloaded aside from Handcent is Sound Grenade and Facebook.
When I downloaded Handcent I turned off notifications and auto-retrieve. Then I restarted the phone and it's still giving me 100%.
