Can't access files in mac!

Why can't I access my files directly through Finder? In Windows I just open the device in explorer and I can see/add/delete what i want. In my mac all I get is the HTC Sync logo (worst program) Is there a way to access my files in a mac.

The HTC One uses a funky file system that OS X doesn't read so it can't mount it. While the android file transfer utility is nice for moving files it doesn't allow Aperture or iPhoto to see the device which really blows.
