Headphones sound problem

Hi got the htc one, absolutely marvelous phone, but I've got a problem:
Tried to listen to some music via my Bose mie2 headphones, and no sound came out, headphones icon did not appear either on the top. I have managed to fix the problem with soundabout third party software only, but still it's annoying that I have to use 3d party software, I have tried another pair of headphones that work on the phone without software they are 3.5mm too but have two rings not 3 like on Bose headphones, so anyway the headphones work so its a software issue, what should I do to fix my problem?

It almost sounds like the Mie2s are not plugged in all the way but if just adding software fixed it that's not the issue. Does using the Beats software have any effect?

Beats soft works with soundabout too but the quality of sound sucks so I don't use it

You could give it a shot just make sure you have good backups. ...that's rule #1.

Still have the problem, saw a few other posts with similar problem any ideas guys?
