Htc one charging problem, I need help

My Htc One is always charging on usb mode which is 3 times slower, that happens even when I use the cable that came with the phone. How do I make it charge on ac mode?

Another question, is it possible to update the software from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 without having to unroot?

If you're using both the charger and cable that came with it then it should charge at AC speeds. If it isn't the. See if you can just swap out the charger and cable without swapping out the entire device.
