HTC One Landscape camera scene

Hello,
i have a question regarding the HTC One camera scene "Landscape". Obviously it is made for taking pictures of landscapes, but what is the advantage of choosing it? For example, i choose portrait scene when taking portraits to smoothen the skin in the picture. But how does the picture change when i choose Landscape?

Generally landscape mode stops the lens aperture down to give greater depth of field. Portrait mode is the reverse, keeping the lens aperture wide open to limit depth of field.
