Upon restarting my phone a week or so back I got the following message. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? Thank you.

I just got this message for the first time today after doing a hard reset/battery calibration. And have been wondering the same thing. Never got it before either.

It only show up upon re-starting the phone. Since I don't want to mess anything up, I just close it and then it disappears from the notification bar. I'm not seeing any changes on the phone.

Well what sense version and android version does it have?

I have all the latest updates. I believe it is Sense 6? Android 4. something? The Kit Kat One I think. To be honest I cant keep up with all the update names or versions. I just update when the phone tells me to. Sorry.

Settings>info about phone>software ;)
if sense 6 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 or 4.4.2 it should be an error.
And did it just pop up or what?

Smith is the name of some HTC system app that is used to track your data usage. I have no idea why that screen comes up, though, or what it means.

I just got off a long and completely fruitless chat with an HTC tech rep. They are aware that there is a problem and are working on a fix but couldn't give me an OTA date for the fix.
What is truly annoying is HTC knew that smith.apk was due to expire on July 28th 2014 and they did nothing about it. (The rep actually confirmed this also)
Very frustrating, I just want my phone to go back to working correctly.
Guess I'll just keep checking for updates.
